2 You re invited While Fr. Mich was traveling the world during his sabbatical in 2008, he visited a Sikh place of worship and in that sacred space, he heard people reading their Scriptures continuously 24 hours a day! We thought that such a prayerful reading of our Sacred Scripture would be a beautiful way to end the Easter Season. So, you are invited to join us on Pentecost Weekend 4 pm Friday, May 21 through 4 pm Saturday, May 22 for a perpetual reading of Sacred Scripture - one day/24 hours in the day chapel (south entrance.) We re calling this daylong prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture - Perhaps you re wondering Can you read the whole Bible in one day? How long would it take to read the entire Bible cover to cover? We Google-d the question and found that it would take about five and a half days! With only one day for our perpetual reading of Sacred Scripture, we will be reading the Gospel of Luke & the Acts of the Apostles both prominent in the Lectionary of readings for this Liturgical Year. Please do come and join us for Word Without End our 24-hour prayerful reading of God s Living Word! We are looking for 2-3 readers to sign up for each hour, to take turns reading. The sign up board is in the narthex. You are welcome also - any time between 4 pm Friday and 4 pm Saturday - to stop in the chapel to sit and listen to God s Word being read hour after holy hour! Thank you to all the votes of confidence from fellow parishioners who raised up more than 50 names to be considered for these positions. Immigration Corner Good Shepherd Immigration Study Group (GSISG) The overwhelming majority of Americans think the country's immigration policies need to be seriously overhauled. And despite protests against Arizona's stringent new immigration enforcement law, a majority of Americans support it, even though they say it may lead to racial profiling. But the poll - conducted April 28 through May 2 with 1,079 adults, and with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points - suggests that Americans remain deeply divided about what to do. Our Immigration Study Group will be holding Peace Circles in the near future so we can come together to learn from each other and share our opinions on this topic. We need all sides of the issue to be discussed so please consider joining us. Dates will be forthcoming. Mother's Day Prayer Loving God, you wrap your arms around your people and show your everlasting love in the same way a mother loves her children. We are grateful for the love you have taught us through the mothers in our lives: our own mother who brought us into this world, the mothers of friends who have welcomed us into their homes and families, our grandmothers who took time for us, and the mothers who have helped us even though we were not their children. Bless all the mothers of this world today. May they know the fullness of love they have shared and be blessed every day of their lives. Amen.

Ed., Director of Grief Education Services for Archdiocese of Milwaukee Catholic Cemeteries, will speak following the 8:15 am Mass on Wednesday, May 12 th. His topic will be Grief, Mourning and Healing: Essential Pieces of the Grief Puzzle. Everyone is welcome. Council of Catholic Women s Annual tour of Churches On Wednesday, June 2 from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm the Milwaukee Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women invites you to tour 4 sacred sites in the area: Congregation Eman-El B ne Jeshurun, the Basilica of St. Josaphat, St. Joseph Center and School Sisters of Notre Dame Convent. The bus departs and returns to St. William Parish, 440 Moreland Blvd. In Waukesha. Persons who are separated, divorced or widowed are invited to a nondenominational support group gathering every Friday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. The gatherings are held at Holy Angels School, 230 N. 8th Ave. in West Bend. 5 Save the Date for a High Seas Expedition This year Vacation Bible School will be held here at Good Shepherd the week of June 14th through the 19th. We will again be participating with St. Mary s parish. Please watch for a bulletin insert with more information in early May. Gay and Straight in Christ reminds you that our monthly gathering will be the third Sunday this month, May 16th. Please join us as we finalize plans for our work at Pridefest. May is Stroke Prevention Month From the Healthcare ministry: Did you know Twice as many women die of stroke than breast cancer every year. Despite this startling statistic, women are more worried about their risk of getting breast cancer than their stroke risk. What's more, women think stroke is a men's disease. But the truth is each year, about 55,000 more women than men have a stroke. Because women live longer than men and stroke occurs at older ages. John and Louise Vos of St. James parish will be hosting an Engaged Encounter weekend at St. James for couples preparing for marriage. Since this is a PILOT WEEKEND, the cost will be ONLY $50 per couple. It will be held on August 6-8, Catholic Engaged Encounter is a marriage preparation program for couples being married in the Catholic Church. This weekend-long workshop will encourage couples to share honest and intensive communication about their future lives together, discussing nearly every aspect of their relationship, including money, children, sexuality, and their roles in the church and society. Couples about to be married in fall 2010 or in 2011 are invited to sign up for this weekend. It is a great gift for parents or grandparents to give as a wedding gift. Now is the time to start eating Bread, Wheat Germ, Eggs, Dried Beans, Dried Fruits, Oysters, Fish, Chicken, Red Meat, Green Vegetable, & Turkey to increase your iron. Also, orange juice and Tomato juice increase the absorption of iron. However, Caffeine (Tea, Coke, Coffee), Antacids and Milk decrease the absorption of iron. Now, with the help of the Knights of Columbus, you can recycle it for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Simply drop your old cell phone in the collection bin located in Daniels Hall above the mail slots on the north wall. RMS Communications will recycle the phone and donate between $1 and $100 to Special Olympics, depending on the make and model of the phone.
