If you are involved in Boy Scouts, be sure to wear your uniform that day. It s almost time for the Souper Bowl Sunday, February 3 rd Sunday, February 3rd is Super Bowl LIII (53) but, here at St. Paul s we are gearing up for Souper Bowl VII (7)! Bring a can of chunky soup (or $1 to buy a vote) and vote for your team, the Rams or the Patriots, or vote for St. Paul s CHOW pantry. Either way, you will come away a winner! The table in the back will hold your votes.

6 Annual Meeting Sunday, February 10 th The Annual Meeting is quickly upon us. The meeting will take place on Sunday, February 10 following the 9:00 AM service. Vestry elections will also take place at this time. Please bring a covered dish to share as we will have a meal together before the meeting begins. Sign-up sheets for setting up and cleaning up are in the back of the Church. Why go Red? National Wear Red Day Friday, February 1st Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. That s why this year we are asking that you wear red on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 1, 2019; encourage others to do the same and make the time to Know Your Numbers. Five numbers that all women should know to take control of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Knowing these numbers can help women and their healthcare providers determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. Wear red. On National Wear Red Day, be sure to wear something red to show your support for women with heart disease and stroke.

7 Women of the Church News On Wednesday, February 13 th at 1:00 p.m. the Women of the Church will welcome Carole Coppens, Executive Director of the YWCA as their guest speaker. Carole has served as Executive Director of the YWCA since 2000 and also serves on the Steering, Nominating and Advocacy committees for the Supportive Housing Network of New York. Carole will talk to us about the many ways in which the Y is helping women and families who are struggling and the services and opportunities provided to help them get back on their feet. A sign-up sheet will be at the back of the church. Please feel free to bring a guest. Coffee and tea will be served. The Sleeping Bag Project will meet Thursday, February 14 th at 1:00 p.m. to continue creating sleeping bags. Remember no sewing skills are needed to join in. Rescheduled Meeting Date Featuring Michael Danaher, Assistant Attorney General Wednesday, February 6 th, 1:00 PM The WoC-hosted meeting with Michael Danaher, Assistant Attorney General in the Binghamton Regional Office, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 6 th at 1:00 p.m. Michael will speak to us about common frauds taking place in our communities, and give guidance on what to look out for and how to protect ourselves from being scammed. 8 1st Annual Casserole Cook-Off Saturday, February 23 rd, 6:00 PM Consider the gauntlet thrown for St. Paul s First Ever Casserole Cook-Off! Make your favorite recipe or try something entirely new. Whichever it is, start planning your entry now then sign up on the sheet in the back of the church. We need casserole contestants, casserole judges (that s the rest of us!) and a few desserts. Salad and rolls will be provided. There will be no charge to the casserole contestants. Just your dish of casserole and the recipe if you are willing to share it. A donation of $5.00 for everyone else allows you to vote for your favorite casserole after tasting them, then go back for more if the tasting didn t fill you up. Ruthie Koerts Ice Cream Social I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! I don t know about you, but I want to hear the screams of our neighborhood friends for ice cream. It is not too early to think about our Eunice Barton Ice Cream Social. Eunice always did a superb job of organizing the Ice Cream Social. We have a commitment from her family that they will do their part to supply the ice cream, drinks and coupons for our event. Now it is up to you to help us continue this ministry. I am looking for a couple of people to chair the committee and allow this event to continue. If interested, please see Fr. John ASAP since arrangements need to be made.
