T A L Great feast that Easter is, one day (not even three days) is insufficient to celebrate the fullness of the mystery of the resurrection. So, as Christians, we keep a fifty-day-long festival, punctuated by the Solemnity of the Ascension of our Lord - the fortieth day of Easter. The feast of the Ascension, like a prism, helps us focus the wondrous colors of the Easter spectrum. These images from the Ascension liturgy give us a sense of the hope and joy that color this feast: Christ s ascension is our glory and hope. The joy of the resurrection and the ascension renews the whole world. Where Christ has gone, we hope to follow. Christ has passed beyond our sight, not to abandon us, but to be our hope. Christ was taken up to heaven to claim for us a share in His divine life. If we have been united with Christ through baptism into His death and resurrection, we are surely united with Him in the transformation and redemption of His humanity. What we celebrate, however, is not only a past or future event. We are given glimpses of our glorious destiny even now. So, feet firmly planted on earth, the community gathers to rejoice in the life we share with the risen Lord. On this fortieth day of Easter, we are told to stop gazing at the clouds and start spreading the good news. The resurrection of Christ didn t end with the Lord Jesus. VINCENT COLLEGE 44TH ANNUAL PRESIDENT S AWARD Saint Vincent College announced that Mitch Farrell is the recipient of the 44th annual President s Award, the College s highest student honor, presented to the member of the graduating class who best embodies what the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college values in its students: outstanding academic achievement, student leadership, and community service. Mitchell G. Farrell, son of Greg and Michelle Farrell, is a 2014 graduate of Saint Joseph High School, Natrona Heights. Active in the Student Government Association as executive board treasurer (2017), class treasurer ( ) and class secretary (2014), he has also served as a member of the Orientation Committee and as a member of the Middle States Committee. A member of the Dean s List, Farrell is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Delta Mu Delta Honor Society in Business Administration and was the recipient of a Student Leadership and Service Award. He has volunteered for three service trips to Haiti, serves as director of the Banana Project, member of the Saint Vincent College Singers, and has performed in several productions by the Saint Vincent College Players including the lead role in Beauty and the Beast. A volunteer for Campus Ministry, he has served as a cantor for Mass and ecumenical services and as a member of the leadership team. An Admission Ambassador, he has also served as a work-study assistant in the Music Department and the McKenna School. In his home community, he has served as a volunteer for Cochlear Americas and as a Director of Harvest for Haiti. In June, he will join Sisterson and Co. LLP in Pittsburgh as a staff associate and plans to pursue his CPA certification. Congratulations Mitch!

The cost for the day is $85 and includes admission to Cedar Point, bus transportation, lunch, an all-day drink wristband, and a catered dinner in the park.

All adults, including graduating seniors 18 years of age and older, must have appropriate clearances. Registration deadline is June 10 or whenever the buses are filled.

Proceeds benefit Rich in Mercy and are used for educational scholarships for children from Haiti. ANNUAL HOLY NAME SOCIETY GOLF OUTING Save the date! Friday, May 25 is the 23rd Annual Golf Scramble held at Oak Lake Golf Course. Tee time is 9:00 AM. Cost is $75 per person and includes golf, cart, beverages, breakfast, lunch, and catered dinner.
