On this, the final Sunday of the liturgical year, we celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only king over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. At the end of time as we know it, Christ s work of restoring all things to unity and harmony with their Creator God will be completed. This Sunday, when we claim Christ as both our Shepherd and our King, we recognize our own calling to participate in Christ s saving work by caring for those whom Jesus calls the least ones (Matthew 25:45).Copyright J. St. Mary Cemetery News St. Mary Cemetery requires much hard work and continuous care, which, of course, amounts to time and money. November is the month for All Souls - a time when we pay particular attention to the faithful departed. Please consider honoring the memory of your loved one by making a donation to St. Mary Cemetery to help maintain the grounds. You can also help by spreading the word that St. Mary Cemetery is open to anyone who wishes to be buried in consecrated ground. For more information, please contact the parish office. 4 Partnered Parish News Knights of Columbus Wreath Pickup Pickup of fresh wreath orders will be on Saturday, November 25, after the 4:00 PM Mass at St. Joseph Parish Office and Sunday, November 26, after all Masses, in St. Mary Friendship Hall. Payment is also due upon pickup. No wreaths, other than those pre-sold, will be available. St. Mary Holy Name BINGO Sunday, December 3, from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM in Friendship Hall! Games are basic BINGO. No cover charge will be collected. Cards are 50 cents each with winnings split 50/50. Final game is $1.00 per card with winner take all. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Sessions for children ages 3-12 are Tuesday mornings from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. There are still openings for children 3 to 6 years old in the Catechesis. Choose the session best for you. A little child, too young to read, needs another way. In an atrium, the child can ponder a biblical passage by taking the material for that text and working with it placing wood figures of sheep in a sheepfold of the Good Shepherd, setting sculpted apostles around a Last Supper table, or preparing a small altar with the furnishings used for the EuchaAttention St. Joseph Parish: Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors and Sacristans We are now beginning preparation of the schedule for January March, Should you have any specific scheduling requests or changes for this time period, please complete a scheduling form and return it to the Parish Office no later than Friday, December 8, Scheduling request forms are available in the sacristy. For more information or pre-order dinner forms, call or visit Bring your family and friends Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Christmas Artwork Contest Our diocesan participation in last year s contest was overwhelming we received more than 254 qualifying entries from 9 schools/parishes/faith formation classes. Of the twenty (20) that were selected for submission to the National Office, TWO of our students were winners again! Their artwork will be displayed at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC during Advent 2017 along with twenty-two (22) other national winners. Nationally, there were nearly 15,000 entries last year from 53 dioceses! The Contest is open to students in grades K-8. However, past years' winners are not eligible to submit an entry. The Mission Office would especially like to encourage all children in those grades to participate. Parish and school Faith Formation children, Home-schooled children, and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd participants are all eligible.
