Parking for those participating is at Mogie s Restaurant. Life Chain is a visual statement of Christian solidarity that will take place throughout the U.S. and Canada. Sacrament of Confirmation Children who will be in 8th grade in the fall of 2018 and who have been enrolled in faith formation for 2 years will be confirmed on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Mt. St. Peter Church at 9:30 AM. A mandatory meeting for parents of both churches will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 6:30 PM in the St. Francis Room. In-service date for preparing the basket service project for both parents and confirmands will be Saturday, November 10. Retreat for parents and confirmands will be Saturday, January 19. 4 Partnered Parish News Share the Word Bible Study Share the Word Adult Bible Study will resume on Monday, October 1, at St. Mary Parish from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in the St. Francis Room. All are welcome. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Sessions for children ages 3-12 are held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM and Tuesday evenings from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to help on Tuesday evenings in the atrium. Clearances required. If you are able to help or need more information, please call the Debby in the Religion Center at What do children do in the atrium? Children fall in love with Jesus, the Good Shepherd. The atrium experience is the foundation for a life-long relationship with God which is then lived out in the Church community. Children work with and reflect on materials that revolve around the life of Christ, liturgical colors, geography, the altar and the Eucharist, the Gospels of his birth. Scotch tape Water color paint sets Plain vinyl placemats Living Rosary In honor and commemoration of St. Mary Church s 125th Anniversary, there have been many great and fun gatherings. As October is the Month of the Rosary, there will be a spiritual gathering Living Rosary. The gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 10, at 6:30 PM. All participants are asked to gather at the church by 6:00 PM. The gathering will take place inside the church with lights dimmed. All participants will be given a candle and placed around the church in the shape of the rosary. Each candle will be lit prior to reciting the prayer of the bead they represent. At the final prayer, all candles will be lit and will look like a Living Rosary. To make this a beautiful and spiritual gathering, a minimum of 61 people are needed. Instruction will be given prior to the beginning of the ceremony. Upon completion of the Living Rosary, refreshments will be served in Friendship Hall. To participate, a sign-up sheet will be in the back of the church or contact either Dolores Brosky at or the Parish Office at Feast Day Recognition Thursday, October 4, is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. We would like to take this opportunity and congratulate all of our Franciscan friends, especially: Sister Mary Carol Kardell and all Felician Sisters. Sr. Carol is the Pastoral Associate for the partnered parishes of St. Joseph and St. Mary. The Country Store is asking for donations of homemade crafts and canned goods such as jams, jellies, relishes, etc. Please keep us in mind as you do your summer canning The bake sale is in need of your homemade goodies. If bakers would like their items to be sold for a certain amount, please price the item(s) prior to drop off. Bake sale and country store items can be dropped off in Friendship Hall after the 7:30 AM Mass on Sunday, October 7. Youth Minister and Coordinator of Catechesis Position St. Joseph/St. Mary Churches are seeking a Youth Minister and Coordinator of Catechesis. This is a part-time position in which the candidate must be a practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to Catholic faith formation. Must be energetic and organized with excellent communication skills. Applicant must also be computer-literate (MS Office, and social media). Candidate may possess a Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in Religious Education and/or completed the Pathways Program. Applicant must be willing to acquire and/or continue necessary catechetical training. The position will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating all aspects of the religious education program (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) and youth group.
