3 Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 25, 2018 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. Revelation 1:5 Christ Is King On the final Sunday of the liturgical year we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. It s easy to understand today s scriptures as events that happened long ago and far away, or predictions that will come true somewhere, some day. But they invite us to claim Christ as our King here and now. Jesus words to Pilate in the Gospel remind us that his kingdom transcends time and place. And the prophecies from Daniel and Revelation give us reason to be faithful to Christ our King right here and right now. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only King over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. No matter what nation we belong to or what language we speak, he has made us into a kingdom (Revelation 1:6) one people united in love and peace for all eternity. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Francisco Miramontes Simbang Gabi originated in the early days of Spanish rule over the Philippines as a practical compromise for farmers, who began work before sunrise to avoid the noon day heat out in the fields. It began in Priest began to say Mass in the early mornings instead of the evening novenas more common in the rest of the Hispanic World. Simbang Gabi (Filipino for Night Mass ) is a devotional nine day series of Masses practiced by Roman Catholics and Aglipayans in the Philippines in anticipation of Christmas and to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is similar to the nine day series of dawn masses leading to Christmas Eve practiced in Puerto Rico called Misa de Aguinaldo.

5 S P I R I T U A L I T Y C O R N E R Sunday, November 25, 2018 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, We have reached the end of the liturgical year, and it is the feast of Christ the King that culminates the three Cycles A, B, and C. Each of them leads us to meditate in the Gospel in a special way. In Cycle A, through the Gospel according to Matthews. In Cycle B, that we just finished, with the Gospel according to Mark. And in Cycle C, that we will start next week with the First Sunday of Advent, through the Gospel according to Luke. This feast of Christ, King of the Universe, reminds us that all kingdoms in this world will end because they are temporary. And being based on human criteria of power, domination, wars, and submission, they do not reach fullness. Christ is King of an eternal kingdom, to which He does not invite us to be subjects or slaves but invites us to reign with Him praising God in that joyful contemplation of his love and grace. Therefore, our baptism reminds us of that triple mission of being Prophets, Priests, and Kings. We are Kings because we are called to build the Kingdom of Heaven from this earthly reality. We do not have to wait until we die to live this experience. Making Jesus Christ present, through our testimony of being baptized, is our daily life apostolate that also invites others, even the unbelievers, to be disciples of Jesus Christ our Savior, of this family that is the Church His mystical body. That's why our children and young people should be instructed by the example of adults life in each family remembering that whoever does not do so or leads one of them astray will not be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In the family the children must know and love Christ as the sovereign who reigns with love in their hearts and who is loved in the home in which they live. Today is an opportunity to renew ourselves and to call Jesus in prayer to come into our homes and to reign in there that with His commandment of love we can renew our commitment to the Sacrament of Baptism that we have received. In this year we have meditated in a major way the Gospel of St. Mark and I believe that we have all been inspired by this message that begins with that call to Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths, (Mk 1:1 3) to change our life and to transform it every wrong we have done and that has been contrary to His love. And it culminates with the call to go into the whole world to proclaim the Good News and the wonders that will accompany those who do this mission. (Mk 16:15 20) Let s remember that the reason for this preaching is not to form a temporal kingdom, but the Eternal Kingdom promised by Jesus to everyone who believes and fulfills the Word of Life. Remember that He Himself before Pilate says, my kingdom is not of this world. (Jn 18:33b 37) For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek. For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, The one who is righteous by faith will live. (Romans 1:16,17) The most impenetrable barrier is not fortress or electric fence, it is indifference. How long must we engage in renewal? Other may be dying or suffering from hunger and misery, but you are unaffected; in the face of the decadence and collapse of society, you are unconcerned. With such an attitude, how will you ever overcome barriers of indifference? The renewal of society is accomplished by people who faithfully renew themselves according to the Gospel. Faith brings new value to their work, and while people may not know them well, or may never have heard them speak, they perceive something difference in their more beautiful lifestyle. Walking fast or rushing will not get you far, but only walking firmly and purposefully will you advance. There is no need to make an urgent appeal to the world to advance. Begin to advance yourself. 6 Chúa Nhật 34 Thường Niên - Năm B Lễ Chúa Giêsu Vua Vũ Trụ Bài đọc 1: Ðn 7:13-14 Ngôn sứ Ðaniel loan báo Chúa Giêsu được Chúa Cha trao ban vương quyền và vinh quang. Vương quyền Người vĩnh cửu và muôn dân phải tuân phục. Bài đọc 2: Kh 1:5-8 Chúa Giêsu là Vua trên hết các vua. Người đã chịu chết và sống lại để chuộc tội chúng ta. Người là khởi thủy và cùng đích mọi loài mọi vật. Bài Tin Mừng: Ga 18:33-37 Tin Mừng hôm nay thuật lại Chúa Giêsu xưng mình là Vua, nhưng Người không phải là vua theo kiểu thế gian, mà là Vua chân lý. Người làm vua để làm chứng cho sự thật là Thiên Chúa. T ư C C Xứ Chúa Nhật, ngày 25 tháng 11 năm 2018 Kính thưa quý Ông Bà và Anh chị em,trong Chúa Kitô Chúng ta đang bước vào những ngày cuối cùng của năm phụng vụ, và Lễ Chúa Kitô Vua là cao đỉnh kết thúc của cả ba chu kỳ phụng vụ năm A, B, và C. Mỗi chu kỳ phụng vụ hướng dẫn chúng ta suy gẫm một Phúc Âm khác nhau. Chu kỳ phụng vụ năm A theo Phúc Âm Thánh Matthêu. Chu kỳ phụng vụ năm B, mà chúng ta vừa kết thúc, theo Phúc Âm Thánh Maccô. Và trong Chu kỳ phụng vụ năm C mà chúng ta sẽ bắt đầu vào tuần tới với Chúa Nhật thứ nhất Mùa Vọng, chúng ta sẽ suy gẫm Phúc Âm Thánh Luca. Lễ Chúa Kitô, Vua Vũ Trụ, nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng tất cả các vương quốc ở thế gian này sẽ phải kết thúc bởi vì chúng chỉ là tạm bợ. Tất cả những gì theo tiêu chuẩn của con người dựa trên quyền lực, thống trị, chiến tranh và khuất phục, sẽ không bao giờ đạt đến viên mãn. Chúa Kitô là Vua của một vương quốc vĩnh cửu. Ngài không mời chúng ta làm công dân hay làm nô lệ nhưng mời gọi chúng ta cùng cai trị với Ngài - thật đáng dâng lời ca ngợi Thiên Chúa khi chúng ta vui mừng suy niệm về tình yêu thương và ân sủng mà Ngài dành cho ta. Trong đó, phép Thánh Tẩy nhắc nhở chúng ta về ba sứ mệnh làm Tiên tri, làm Tư tế và làm Vua. Chúng ta là Vua bởi vì chúng ta được mời gọi xây dựng Nước Trời từ thực tại trần gian này. Chúng ta không phải chờ cho đến khi chúng ta lìa đời mới sống sứ mệnh này. Làm cho Chúa Giêsu Kitô trở nên hiện hữu, qua việc làm chứng nhân lãnh nhận Bí tích Rửa tội, qua cuộc sống tông đồ hàng ngày của chúng ta để cùng mời gọi những người khác, ngay cả những người không tin, trở nên môn đệ của Chúa Giêsu Kitô, Đấng Cứu Chuộc chúng ta, gia nhập gia đình Giáo Hội là thân thể huyền nhiệm của Ngài. Đó là lý do tại sao các em nhỏ và các thanh thiếu niên phải được làm gương bằng chính cuộc sống của những người lớn trong mỗi gia đình xin hãy nhớ rằng bất cứ ai không làm như vậy hoặc làm hư bất cứ em nào sẽ không thể nào vào được Nước Trời. Trong gia đình, các em phải được dạy cho biết về Chúa Kytô, tâm hồn các em hãy yêu mến Ngài là Đấng thống trị tràn đầy yêu thương và Ngài cũng được tất cả mọi người trong gia đình kính yêu. Hôm nay là một cơ hội để chúng ta canh tân chính mình và khẩn khoản nài xin Chúa Giêsu ngự trị trong gia đình chúng ta - rằng qua giới răn yêu thương của Ngài, chúng ta có thể mạnh dạn tuyên xưng lại đức tin mà chúng ta đã lãnh nhận ngày chúng ta chịu Bí Tích Rửa Tội. Trong năm vừa qua, chúng ta đã suy ngẫm cốt yếu về Phúc Âm Thánh Maccô, và tôi tin rằng tất cả chúng ta đều cảm thấy phấn chấn nhờ thông điệp mở đầu của Ngài với lời kêu gọi: Hãy dọn sẵn con đường của Đức Chúa, sửa lối cho thẳng để Ngài đi (Mc 1: 1 3) để chúng ta thay đổi cách sống của chúng ta và biến đổi nó thay đổi tất cả những gì chúng ta đã làm trái ngược với tình yêu của Thiên Chúa. Cao điểm của lời mời gọi này là lời sai đi khắp thế gian công bố Tin Mừng và chúng ta cũng được cho biết là có các dấu lạ sẽ đi cùng với những ai thi hành sứ vụ này. 7 Sống Lời Chúa và Cầu Nguyện Trong Tuần Chúa Giêsu là Vua tối cao người là Vua sự thật và là vua hy sinh chuộc tội chúng ta. Chúng ta tôn phong Người làm vua và tha thiết cầu nguyện. Hội Thánh có sứ mạng tiếp nối Chúa Giêsu Vua, làm chứng cho sự thật tuyệt đối là Thiên Chúa. Xin cho mọi thành phần Hội Thánh luôn nhiệt tâm hoàn thành sứ mạng bằng chính đời sống đức tin của mình. 8 M N P Domingo 25 de noviembre, 2018 Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo: Llegamos al final del año litúrgico, y es la fiesta de Cristo Rey la que culmina los tres ciclos AB y C, que nos llevan a meditar de manera especial los Evangelios según San Mateo A, Según San Marcos B el que terminamos y ciclo C San Lucas que comenzaremos ya el próximo Domingo, primero de Adviento. Esta fiesta de Cristo Rey del Universo, nos hace recordar que al final de los tiempos terminaran todos los reinos de este mundo que son temporales, que no llegan a una plenitud porque son basados en los criterios humanos de poder y de dominio, de guerras y de sometimiento. Cristo es Rey de un reino eterno, al que no nos invita a ser súbditos o esclavos, sino que nos invita a reinar con El, alabando a Dios en esa alegre contemplación, de su amor y de su gracia. Por eso en nuestro bautismo se nos recuerda esa triple misión de ser Profetas, Sacerdotes y Reyes. Reyes porque estamos llamados a construir el Reino de los Cielos desde esta realidad terrena. No tenemos que esperar a morir para vivir esta experiencia, el hacer presente a Cristo Jesús con nuestro testimonio de bautizados es un apostolado de la vida diaria que invita también a los demás e incluso a los que no creen, a ser discípulos de Jesucristo Salvador, a formar parte de los bautizados, de la familia que es la Iglesia, su cuerpo místico. Por eso nuestros niños y jóvenes deben ser instruidos por el ejemplo de vida de los adultos en cada familia. Recordando que el que no lo haga o escandalice a uno de ellos no podrá entrar en el Reino de los Cielos. En la familia los hijos deben conocer y amar a Cristo como soberano que reina con amor en sus corazones y que es amado en el hogar en el que ellos viven. Hoy es una oportunidad de renovarnos y de llamar a Jesús en oración para que entre en nuestros hogares y reine, que con su mandamiento de amor, podamos renovar nuestro compromiso del Sacramento del Bautismo que hemos recibido. En este año hemos meditado de una manera principal el Evangelio de San Marcos y yo creo que todos hemos sido inspirados por este mensaje que comienza con ese llamado de preparar los caminos del Señor, enderecen sus senderos. Marcos 1, 1-3. Cambiar nuestra vida y transformarla, todo lo que hemos hecho y que ha sido contrario a su amor. Y culmina con el llamado de ir por todo el mundo anunciando la Buena Nueva, y los prodigios que acompañaran a los que hagan esta misión Marcos 16, Recordemos que el motivo de esta predicación, no es formar un reino temporal, sino el Reino Eterno prometido por Jesús para todo el que crea y cumpla la Palabra de Vida, recordemos que él mismo ante Pilato dice, mi reino no es de este mundo Juan 18,33b-37. Padre Francisco Miramontes 8 Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo 25 de noviembre de 2018 Gracia y paz a ustedes, de parte de Jesucristo, el testigo fiel, el primogénito de los muertos, el soberano de los reyes de la tierra. Apocalipsis 1:5 Cristo es Rey El último domingo del año litúrgico celebramos la fiesta de Cristo Rey. Puede que entendamos las lecturas de hoy como acontecimientos que sucedieron hace mucho, mucho tiempo o predicciones que se harán realidad algún día en algún lugar. Pero en realidad nos invitan a aclamar a Cristo como nuestro Rey aquí y ahora. Las palabras de Jesús a Pilatos en el Evangelio nos recuerdan que su Reino trasciende el tiempo y el espacio. Y las profecías de Daniel y del Apocalipsis nos dan motivos para ser fieles a Cristo, nuestro Rey, aquí y ahora. Al terminar el año con esta fiesta proclamamos nuestra fe en que Jesucristo es el único Rey de todos los tiempos, pueblos y de toda la Creación. Sin importar cuál sea nuestra nacionalidad ni qué idioma hablemos: Cristo y ha hecho de nosotros un reino (Apocalipsis 1:6), en un pueblo unido en el amor y la paz por toda la eternidad. Copyright J. Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe En 1917 México recibió una nueva Constitución en la cual se estableció una política de intolerancia religiosa, especialmente en contra de la Iglesia católica romana. Con el pasar de los años las normas anticlericales fueron puestas en vigor hasta el punto que algunos mexicanos piadosos y cristianos decidieron defender su religión. En marzo de 1925, estos mexicanos católicos fundaron la Liga Nacional para la Defensa de la Libertad Religiosa, en el mismo mes en que el papa Pío XI proclamó la Fiesta de Cristo Rey, celebrada el último domingo del año litúrgico. Inspirados por el grito de Viva Cristo Rey!, los fieles se convirtieron en Cristeros, muchos de los cuales dieron su vida por Cristo, demostrando así que Jesús es verdaderamente el Rey de sus vidas. La Cristiada duró sólo tres años en México y muchos sacerdotes, religiosas, religiosos, laicas y laicos dieron su vida para la gloria de Cristo Rey en México.
