Bringing up the Gifts at Mass If the Mass intention has been requested by you or for your loved ones, and you would like to bring up the Gifts at the Offertory, please let the ushers know that you are present and would like to bring up the gifts. Widows Support Group 1:00 PM on the second Tuesday of the month in the Kevin Eidt Youth Room. The altar flowers for this weekend have been donated in memory of Peter & Ortensia Gioiella by their family.

4 The last two days have been examples of what makes me so proud of this parish. On Sunday, three teens spoke at all the Masses about the Night in a Box project taking place this weekend. Sean Murawski, Betsy Burke, and David Chuba spoke eloquently from their experiences the past three years. They have spent cold nights in cardboard boxes, participated in several service projects, and raised money for the Open Door Shelter. Their confidence and passion were evident, and I was just amazed at how much they are ahead of where I was at their age. Then, today was the funeral for Phyllis Featherston, who with her husband Charlie were founding members of the parish. Phyllis attended daily Mass and every other parish activity imaginable. Up to her last days at age 93, she was still attending Bible Study and going to exercise class. The funeral was huge and was followed by a reception in the hall put on by our Funeral Reception Ministry. So in 48 hours we had four major events in our hall, each requiring a different set up and take down of chairs and tables. Saturday morning was men s group, Sunday morning was REACH parents and children, Sunday night was 40 TOTAL teenagers and team, and Monday the reception where every table we own was in service. Everyone pitched in for the sake of others and we all survived. Some days I get exhausted just thinking of all that goes on here day to day. It is a great parish, and as we approach Thanksgiving, you make me even more grateful. Thursday is Thanksgiving, and then Advent is upon us! Can Christmas be far behind? Please note that there has been a change in schedule. The Advent wreath making day for families has been moved to the Sunday, November 25 th, of Thanksgiving weekend Meanwhile, see you in Church!! Thanksgiving Eve Mass 7:00 PM Before you celebrate at your Thanksgiving Day table, join us at the table of the Lord for a special Liturgy of the Mass on Thanksgiving Eve, this Wednesday, November 21, at 7:00 PM. We will have a dramatic, multi voice, narrative story of the Gospel, a Witness Talk on gratitude, a Litany of Thanks for petitions, and an opportunity for you to express personal thanks for all that you are thankful for. Bring your Thanksgiving Day bread and wine to be blessed for your home. For those who like to go to Mass on Thanksgiving Day, we will have our usual 9:00 AM Mass. Last Call!! Sunday, November 18 at 10:15 AM in Room 5 REUSABLE GROCERY BAGS There is always great need for Reusable Grocery Bags at the food pantries. Currently, Stop & Shop has heavyduty reusable grocery bags just inside the store entrance priced at 2 for $1. Please consider buying some for the clients at Person to Person. Not only does it reduce the need for plastic bags, many clients without cars use the bus and walk to carry their food home. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Giving Tree Tag Night November 19 th at 7PM. We are asking for approximately 2 dozen or more volunteers to join us as we complete the gift tags to place on our Annual Giving Tree. All are welcome, adults and children (about an hour). Refreshments will be available. Tag the Giving Tree November 24 th. The completed tags for Julie s Kids from Education and Hope in Guatemala and others in need will be placed on the tree. Exact time to be determined. (about 1/2 hour with 45 volunteers). Please signup on the bulletin board in the church hallway for either event! TWEETS OF THE Where there is sin there is also the merciful Lord God who forgives if you go to Him. We are obliged to alleviate the burden of poverty among those around us. It s a requirement of charity & justice, for we seek to follow the Great Commandment of our Lord who taught us to love God with our whole mind, heart and strength and to love our neighbor as Gospel (11/10): Some people laugh when asked if they obey the First Commandment: Have no other gods before me. But then you ask: What does your life revolve around? What orders your decisions? What motivates you? What s the measure of success? So they may indeed have another god: Money.

IMPORTANT CONFIRMATION REMIND- ERS: Mandatory Confirmation Rehearsal will be held on Tuesday, November 27 th at 7:00 pm in the church. Confirmation is Sunday, December2 th at 2pm. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our November food drive, which totaled an amazing 1,600 food items, 743 of which were items sold at the table after Masses. In addition, the Milk Fund total was $127. These donations will grace the Thanksgiving tables of our Norwalk families caught in difficult situations. Special thanks to the REACH students and their families who worked to sort and organized everything with speed and enthusiasm. Also, we are grateful for the assistance of Lorraine Larkin, Beth O'Mara, Sheila Rietano, Bill Sweeney, and Nancy Wagner for staffing the table. Thanks to: John and Nancy Wagner, for their devotion to taking the collected money to shop for and deliver the most needed items; Bill Halstead for his consistent help delivering the collection of food items; and to Barbara Bagnato for her unwavering support in all aspects of our food drives. In this season of giving, we have much for which to be thankful. Family Advent Workshop Next Sunday After 9:15 Mass Don t miss the Advent Workshop next Sunday, November 25. Families with children are invited to the church hall after the 9:15 Mass for a Family Advent Workshop. Your family will learn about Advent traditions, make family Advent wreaths and Hope ornaments, and take home Advent calendars along with the wreaths and ornaments you create, all for free. Make your family Advent wreath and light its candles during Advent. Open the windows of your Advent calendar day by day. Place your own Hope ornament on your Christmas tree. Celebrate Advent at home with what you learn and make at the St. Jerome Family Advent Workshop. NIGHT IN A BOX 2018 This weekend the TOTAL teens are participating in a special afternoon and overnight experience to think about making a difference and serving others. We will host our homeless awareness project callednight IN A BOXto raise money and collect much needed items for the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. Teens will construct a cardboard shelter and spend the night in that shelter to become more aware of the homeless plight in Norwalk and nationwide. TOTAL teens will be collecting cash donations and toiletries for the Open Door Shelter throughout the month of November. Please check the TOTAL bulletin board or below for a specific list of much needed items. Please contact Daniela or Joe O Callaghan for more information.
