Reconciliation One hour before vigil on Saturday. Also Anytime by appointment. Marriages Please contact the Rectory at least six months in advance. Anointing of the Sick takes place on the first Wednesday of each month, immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass, in the sanctuary. Anyone with an ongoing medical condition or who is seriously ill, anticipating a medical procedure or operation, is welcome to come. Gluten Free Hosts are available at all Masses. If you require a gluten-free host, please see the officiating priest before Mass.

4 This weekend is Mission co-op Sunday. Throughout the Diocese, missionaries will be preaching in every parish and raising funds for their home missions. It is a weekend I look forward to every year, because it helps me to connect with the wider Church to which we all belong. Our custom here is to take the missionary out to dinner on Saturday night. At that time, I listen carefully to the story of his or her community or diocese. It is always humbling to compare our challenges to those of a community in a poorer country. I also find it humbling to realize that we, ourselves, are becoming mission territory. In many of our American dioceses, we could not survive without the help of foreign born priests. In our vicariate alone, (Norwalk, Wilton, Westport, New Canaan, and Weston) we have six Indian priests who are working fulltime, including our own Fr. Rojin. To a man, they are hardworking, helpful, faithful, with an ability to collaborate with others for the good of the Church. Speaking of Fr. Rojin, he came to us on July 21 st last year, so he is about to have his first year anniversary at St. Jerome. He brings with him prayerfulness, energy, intellect, and joy. Starting this fall, he will also be enrolled in doctoral studies in administration at PACE University. His home diocese has great plans for him when he returns home to India upon completion of his doctorate. Hopefully, he will get to spend all of these years at St. Jerome where he will also be full time. His presence has certainly lightened my burden and because of his presence, I will get away this summer for four weeks. Praise God, and thank you Fr. Rojin! WORLD YOUTH DAY A contingent of 234 pilgrims from the Diocese of Bridgeport, including three transitional deacons and many seminarians, will travel to Krakow, Poland, for the World Youth Day (WYD) gathering in July. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy, one of the eight Beatitudes, is the theme of this year s World Youth Day gathering, held July The Diocese of Bridgeport s WYD delegation is one of the largest from any single diocese in the United States. The large size of the group, Grosso said, is a testament to Bishop Caggiano s leadership. His passion for World Youth Day inspires passion in our pilgrims. JULY FOOD DRIVE NEXT WEEKEND 7/23-24 Our monthly food drive will take place next weekend, 7/ As Summer heats up, and presents comfort challenges for everyone, let's not overlook the most basic need for food for our less fortunate neighbors. Person-2-Person's Pantry shelves are in need of restocking the following items: Cereal Boxes of Tea, all varieties 18-oz. jars of jelly, preferably not grape jelly Pasta sauce Canned fruit -- preferably peaches, pears, pineapple, or mixed fruit Volunteers will accept cash donations after each Mass to do the shopping for these items and add them to the collection. Thank you for helping to feed families who rely on the pantry for food. NEW Undergarment Collection Clients of the Open Door Shelter in South Norwalk are in need of following NEW underwear items: Adult sized underwear for Men or Women Sports Bras Socks T-Shirts and/or undershirts There will be a marked box in the church hallway beginning July 16th for several weeks. If you would like to donate, please place your NEW items in the box. Thanks you very much for considering this donation request. AmeriCares Free Clinics in need of volunteers! Nurses and Interpreters (Spanish-English) are needed to help at our Norwalk and Stamford free clinics. If you can volunteer even once or twice a month we could use your help. If you know of a new family or a family with a child entering kindergarten or 1st Grade, please have them contact us at reachstjerome@optonline.net or Notre Dame HS - Fairfield 2016 Lancer Open In Memory of Bob Shea Notre Dame High School - Fairfield is currently taking reservations for their 16th Annual Lancer Open in memory of Bob Shea. This year's golf tournament will take place at Brownson Country Club in Huntington, CT on Monday, September 12, This is an annual fundraiser with proceeds to benefit the students of ND. Entry fee is $200 per player. This includes 18 holes of Golf (scramble format) with cart, on-course cold beverages, tournament gifts and raffle prizes, BBQ lunch, silent auction, 2 hour open bar with hor d'oeuvres, buffet dinner and individual and team awards.
