Invocation Dear Lord, Always remind us, Lord, that at times of difficulties, of trials, of setbacks, of contradictions, of sufferings, even though it may seem that you are oblivious or unmindful of what is happening, or may seem that you are not helping at all, that on the contrary you are always present with us. We just have to be more trustful, to have more faith and confidence in you, and to just continue praying. Amen

The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Object of Rotary The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: First Second Third Fourth The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for Service; High Ethical standards in business and professions; the Recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian s Personal, business and community life; The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Song of the Day There s A Kind of Hush There s a kind of hush all over the world tonight All over the world you can hear the sound Of lovers in love you know what I mean Just the two of us and nobody else in sight There s nobody else and I m feeling good Just holding you tight Chorus: So listen very carefully, Get closer now and You will see what I mean, It isn t a dream The only sound that you will hear Is when I whisper in your ear I love you, forever and ever There s a kind of hush, All over the world tonight All over the world, People just like us are falling in love Repeat Chorus There s a kind of hush all over the world tonight All over the world you can hear the sound Of lovers in love

From the President Pres. Ramy Garcia IV Fellow Pasig Rotarians: Last Saturday September 6, 2014 we had the Second D3800 Presidents Breakfast meeting attended by all the Best Class Presidents along with the District Officers for updates and announcements from our District Governor. During the meeting, Governor Marilou handed out early achievers awards for Membership, TRF, Public Image, and RCC etc. I was hoping to get an award for Membership but it was not to be. On September 20, 2014 the district will have an event to be held here in Valle Verde Country Club. The event is called SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER where you can meet the Club Presidents, District Officers and Spouses as STARS OF THE NIGHT. I am inviting everyone to attend this event for only Php including dinner and raffle. I promise that Php is nothing compared to what you will be witnessing during this event. The Presidents have been practicing daily to perfect their MACHO MACHO MAN dance number. Then the Spouses will have a Fashion Show that will be a surprise to all, even myself. Please let me know who can attend so I can make sure that we have enough tickets for everyone. On Club Membership, let us continue to bring in potential prospects. But make sure that you let them mingle around so that they meet everyone and find a common interest. I suggest the sponsors take them around to the different tables and introduce

From the President Pres. Ramy Garcia IV continuation them to the different members. We should have a welcoming committee for prospects so that they feel welcome and not out of place. Last week Rtn. Andy Tan and Rtn. Alex Lacson attended our meeting, and showed us that they still have the hearts of true Rotarians. They both thanked me for not giving up on them since there was not a day that passed since I became president that they did not receive a call or a text message from me. Now I only have one more member that I will never give up on till he attends our meetings. Let us continue to think of new ways to be of service to others. Let us all get together to meet our goals and continue to LIGHT UP ROTARY Rafael Garcia IV President, RC Pasig RY

Rotary Notes PP Benny P. De Guzman After our club s regular board meeting, we were to have a joint meeting with the Rotary Club of Mutya ng Pasig. PP Peping was absent but his mistake of the past has long been laid to rest. Even their club president was absent. However, PP Dan Supetran of RC Pasig South, our first daughter club arrived late to seat in the presidential table. It was because their club is sponsor of the reading program which was what the guest speaker talked about. BCP Ramy was keen on having a program based on improving the reading skills of our youth. Two regular absentee members, Rtns Alex Lacson and Andy Tan attended. Andy came on time, and, I was the substitute fine master. I don t miss anytime I am fining, to fine Andy. Alex, I did not have time to talk with as I had to go rushing for the next call. Both these fine gentlemen were sponsored by me. Little known to many, our former speaker Karen Santos Cepeda was a victim of motorcycle snatching a few minutes after she left our meeting. Her laptop, wallet, cellphones, credit cards were all taken away. Her cards were returned the next day in trash can in Marikina. She was getting off the car of Uncle-in-Law PP Peping to get to her car which she parked in front of the house of Peping when the snatching happeneded. Signs of the times. PP Mike Sehwani called to help raise funds for the financially distressed wife of our late member. Manny Estacio. He said he was tapping those who remember him yet. He did not stay long with the club as his daughter was murdered a few months before graduating from Silliman U in Negros. PDG Raffy, PE Ner and I gave previously already. Mike is doing great but spouse Sawtri would undergo hip replacement sometime October.

Rotary Notes PP Benny P. De Guzman continuation Why am I writing this column? Wala akong isang salita? It is the call of Rotary for service. Director Ogie Lim, in-charge of club operations requesting PP Celso to head the Tinig and bossman Celso asked me to continue writing this column. Kay Celso, I cannot say no to. Even to most of you guys. So, for those who find my column offensive, please just don t read it otherwise the offense is on you. The member of the Mutya ng Pasig who was crowned Mrs something for Globe is a winner, and, she truly belonged only to the table of beauty admirers PPs Conrad and Sonny. They can see beauties and still appreciate. Ang iba could not see theme especially in the club of our very own Ray Armas, kaya they don t look, nangangapa na lang. please raise your hands who have not been making kapa there. The others who have yet to go should be fined for not appreciating beauties by touch. Speaking of Director Ray, and, Director Aga, both are super active in our club projects and in their own turfs. Baka bigyan ni Jess Aga si Ray ng project for his hospitals, and, Ray would return the favor by scheduling his daughter for a second appearance in our club. It is to talk about the present problems of this age group of ours. Ray is the proud father of daughter he fondly calls Sugar. Pinagbiyak hindi sa itsura but sa size. Both are four thirteen? PP Peter, boss Peter to me, was glad when he requested for a one pager last week. He got what he requested, hindi ba? Except for our Foundation, the Arap has better financial balances than our club. Much more after this week when PPA Patsy H. would improve the funds by leaps and bounds for her very special day. But our club is going in that direction. We are going there really soon.

Walking the Avenues PP Jun C. Zafra Presidential Message GARY C.K. HUANG President September 2014 One of the great privileges of being president of Rotary International is having the chance to visit so many parts of the Rotary world. Usually I travel to participate in Rotary events; speak at Rotary clubs, conferences, and institutes; and encourage Rotarians in their service. But as president, I am responsible for all branches of the Rotary family. This means that it is also my privilege to support the service of Rotary s youngest generations: our Rotaractors, Interactors, Rotary Youth Exchange students, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards participants. When I see the work Rotarians do, I am always impressed, always excited, and always inspired. When I see the work of our New Generations, I am all of this and frequently I am surprised as well. Not by the quality of their work for I have learned to expect great things from them but by the creativity and ingenuity of their thinking. I look at what they have done and think not just What a great job! but What a great idea! Because every generation sees the world in a unique way, and every individual has a unique point of view. Faced with the same problems, we arrive at different solutions. This is why, in Rotary, our diversity of culture, language, expertise, gender, and age is our strength. In Rotary, we try to take the long view in our service. We aspire to serve in ways that will make a lasting difference, that will continue to have an impact after our participation ends. Our younger generations, in my experience, share this sentiment, and apply it globally, by focusing on environmental issues in new and innovative ways. When I became a

Walking the Avenues continuation PP Jun C. Zafra Rotarian, environmental issues were barely on our radar. To young people today, these concerns are front and center. Their perspective is a valuable contribution to the world of Rotary service, and it is one that we should all encourage and support. Just as they are learning from us, so should we be learning from them. The young people who are serving in Rotaract and Interact, and participating in Youth Exchange and RYLA today, are the Rotarians of tomorrow. When we support them, we are supporting the future of our entire organization. We are helping to train the men and women who will be the club presidents, district governors, RI directors, and RI presidents of tomorrow.

Tinig Tidbits Rtn. Kel Pascual GREATNESS OF ORDINARY LIFE When Cebu Pacific launched its first long-haul flight outside of the South East Asian region to Dubai in February last year, with round-trip at about $300 plus only, my wife Annie and I immediately grabbed the opportunity via internet for a flight that coming December, My family always takes the opportunity to travel, even locally, every Holy Week and the days right before or right after Christmas up to January 1st. Our intention in availing of the Cebu Pac promo was really Europe, Dubai merely as the jumping board, as Dubai would already take away nine hours off the something like thirteen hours of flight to Europe. It was also a chance to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in Much to my surprise, I discovered while searching the internet, that budget airlines from Dubai to Europe are quite scarce. My son searched again for me and found one but its name sounded obscure, so we just took KLM for three cities: Paris, London, and Amsterdam. Another new awareness I learned in that trip was that all baggage claim belts are always after Immigration. I've traveled so many times before and only then that I became aware of this fact. So if a traveler obtains tickets from the internet and not from a travel agent, for varied legs of the trip on different airlines and if he does not have a visa on one of his transit points, he would not be able to claim his bags at the transit point. Dubai for us was just a transit point so we did not apply for a UAE visa anymore. When we were checking in our bags at the Cebu Pac

Tinig Tidbits Rtn. Kel Pascual continuation counter at Terminal 3, we asked if we could have our luggage baggaged-through to Paris, our first leg. The girl asked for our forward flight tickets and she seemed confused watching her computer screen. After a longer time than usual us standing at the counter, she then looked at our bags and without explaining anything, said "no need to check in your bags." It's good we were traveling light for that trip so we brought small bags only, puede nang pumasa sa hand-carry. Only when we got to the Dubai airport, while walking around inside waiting for our flight to Paris did we realize that we can not baggage-through our luggage if tickets for varied legs involving different airlines are obtained via the internet and not via a travel agent, and that if you do not have a visa for a particular transit point, you can not claim your bag if checked in, at that transit point.
