We will be meeting at the MAXX March 19 Community Service Awards We have two worthy, hard working volunteers for our Annual Community Service Awards. We will make this award March 26, to our unsung heroes. They, and their guests will join us for lunch. We will announce the names of our honorees shortly. February 19, Pat Iannuzzi of Symbiont Performance Group, who is a performance consultant, spoke to us about performance and motivation. Kevin Beirmeir, from Ability Beyond Disability, was our guest February 12. He told us about the organization s programs for discovering, building and celebrating the ability of people with disabilities. Starts March 20 February 26, Dr. Len Tomasello, Principal of Sarah Noble Middle School, spoke to us about the school s programs, accomplishments, and plans for the future. He introduced us to the school s program, needing volunteers, as mentors, or persons willing to share their life experiences, and assistance to young people. If you can and will share yourself with our young people, see attachments on page 3 and page 4. Rotary Foundation We are over the half-way point and contributions are very slowly trickling in. We hope that we achieve our goal of Every Member Every Year. Now would be a good time to include your $50 (or part of the $50) with your dues check!

President Esther Kang presented Frank with a check for $1,000, to be matched with a grant, and sent to India to help many sightless people see. We were pleased to have President Esther Kang, VP Emily Day, Historian Krista Pullen, Treasurer Nicole Callison, and Secretary Ryan Kauer, with us. We are pleased to have a very active Interact Club. They are having a Cupcake War, Saturday March 9. See page 6. Thanks to Peter daubner, for all the work he does with the Interact Club! Special Valentine s Day Guests Congratulations! At our February 12 meeting, Peter Daubner arranged for the Mad Hatters to join us. He has been a member of the fine group for many years. He is the stage manager at All-School musicals, President of Spanish Honor Society, President of FBLA, Vice President of Student Council, Team Captain for Team Waramaug, and National Honor Society

7 7 PAGE 7 February Student of the Month Rob and Math Teacher, Ryan Fitzsimmons, welcomed and congratulated Kyle Kellett, our February Student of the Month, February 19. His mother, Karen, was also our guest. Kyle is an AP Scholar, has received Excellence in Environmental Science, Excellence in Accounting, and Excellence in English III. He is the stage manager at All-School musicals, President of Spanish Honor Society, President of FBLA, Vice President of Student Council, Team Captain for Team Waramaug, and National Honor Society Team Leader. He is a team leader for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, participates in Light the Night, Relay for Life, and is sound board operator at Sarah Noble School. He will soon be an Eagle Scout. He plans to become a medical doctor. Duck Race The date is Monday, May 27, for our 19th Annual River Duck Race. It s not too soon to start talking about it! This is one of our largest fund raisers, so we need every member s support, by attendance and participation, and for placing as many adoptions as possible! Reserve the date on your calendar! Each member will receive a supply of Adoption Certificates, so go to work arranging the adoptions! We re counting on each member to place at least 20 ducks! We have great prizes, and the weather will be great! Golf Tournament Our 30th Annual Outing will be Wednesday, August 28. Spread the word, and save the date! The Object of Rotary The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, and, in particular, to encourage and foster: First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity to serve; Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; Third: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian s personal, business, and community life; Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
