SPECIAL POINTS On Monday, July 8, 2013 Frank DeVita and I boarded an airplane bound for Tanzania. We were both filled with excitement about our trip and what God was doing in our midst. Through one miraculous event after another, God enabled our ministry to accumulate the estimated money needed to drill a new well in Kiruani, Tanzania. Our schedule included meeting with some well drillers, helping Pastor Rogers Mzavas negotiate for a new well, and determining which driller would best suit our needs. Both of us held on to secret hopes that we might even see the driller in action at our sight, and dare we dream that we may be able to see water coming from our well. We arrived in Kilimanjaro on Wednesday, July 10 and hit the ground running. Rogers picked us up at the airport and took us straight to a series of meetings with different drillers. Our excitement level was only growing. It soon became apparent that one driller was more eager than the others. His pricing was competitive and availability almost immediate. After negotiations and prayerful deliberations Rogers signed a contract on Friday, July 12, 2013 for a new well in Kiruani, Tanzania. Equipment and crews were scheduled to move in on Saturday, July 13 with work to begin immediately upon arrival. We were overwhelmed with God s timing and His provisions. If there was ever any doubt that God intended for our ministry to help drill a new well in Tanzania it was quickly disappearing. We could hardly contain ourselves as we travelled back to our room for the evening. We decided that Frank would travel to Kiruani on Sunday morning while I stayed and preached at El Shadai Worship Center near Hai, Tanzania. Drilling actually began on Monday, July 15 to the excitement of many. This is our acronym for our efforts to inspire, supply, and support education for the children in Kiruani, Tanzania. The majority of the Massai children in the area are unable to afford the $30 per month per child education costs. Many of you have answered God s call to stand in the gap for these children and are sending monthly support. As of this writing we have 69 children enrolled in our kindergarten class. There are others that would like to attend but we simply do not have the resources to accommodate them. Our vision is to build a new classroom every year for the next four years and obtain more child sponsorships so that we will never have to tell a child that we just do not have any more room. Connor Jones topped all hosted its First Annual 5K Run, Run for the Water, at St. Paul UMC in Goldsboro, NC. 64 individuals signed up and at 9:00 a.m. embarked on our 3.1 mile course through the streets of Goldsboro. runners with a time of 18:21. Michael Johnson took second place for the men with Jacob Paugh coming in third. The top three women runners were Amber Griffin, Megan Gay, and Beth Wiggins. She spent numerous hours finding over 90 sponsors and Katie also designed our B2BU 5K T-shirt which lists our Gold level sponsors (those that donated $200 or more) on the back and is outlined by the continent of Africa. All proceeds from the Run went towards the drilling of a clean water well in Kiruani, Tanzania. The event T H E W E L L C O N T I N U E D ter tested. Everything seems to be working fine! The community is very excited about the new well and the possibilities the well opens to them.
