Dear Parishioners, Today s Scripture readings can be understood as a plea to live a virtuous life, a life that exemplifies all that is wholesome about our human nature. Justice, compassion, mercy, selflessness, humility and, above all, love betray the best of who we are. This is not to ignore the fact that we sometimes fall short in these virtues in our day-to-day living. Rather, it is to help us recognize that there is more goodness in the world than there is evil. It is found in the love of a parent for their child, in the mercy we show to the sick, the forgiveness we ask from a friend and the compassion we have for another. These little acts often go unnoticed but they are real expressions of a virtuous life. Over the past few months our parish family has truly shown a glimpse of the virtuous life in the compassion we have for one another, especially as we merged into a new parish family. It was through your understanding, concern, love and support of one another that our merger has gone very smoothly. One of the things to commemorate this merger as a new parish was to bring the baptismal font from Holy Spirit Church and begin to use it as our parish baptismal font. It felt only right to bring this important and beautiful vessel of faith to our church so that our brothers and sisters from Holy Spirit would have something familiar in their new place of worship. Our new font is located in the sanctuary to the left of the St. Joseph altar. In building this New Parish Community, I have the benefit of working with a wonderfully gifted and talented Transition Team in order to facilitate a smooth transition to a new parish community. This consultative body assists me as an interim parish pastoral council in the areas of communications, parish groups/ ministries and other action steps as we navigate our pastoral transition days, while remembering what is not changing: Catholic Faith and Values. The members of the team are the following: Denise Arrygale, Vince Bataglia, Anne DeMasi, Jennie Filippello, Deacon Al George, George Hatton, Bob Hughes, Denise Keenan, Pete McGee, Jim & Marie Milano, Dom Nardini, Ron Nighswander, Paul Perillo, Sis Prisco, Karen Strati, Carl Teti and Nicole Talamo. It is through the guidance of the Parish Transitional Team and through your daily prayers, that we were/are able to build and reaffirm our faith in Jesus as we started on this new journey together. I am grateful for all you do and will continue to do as the new parish family of St. Richard. God Love Ya! Fr. Reilly

At this Rite they will be asked if they are ready to begin instruction, gather with the worshipping community in prayer, and join the community in the love and service of others.
