2 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, When God the Father sent His Son into the world to be our Savior and Redeemer, He knew that His Son would need the love, protection and guidance of a mother and foster-father. The Father carefully picked Mary and Joseph to fulfill these integral roles for His beloved Son. Jesus clearly loved His mother. Mary cared for Him both as a mother and as a disciple. With great tenderness, she nurtured Him as a child, teaching Him to pray to our Heavenly Father. With great faith and trust, she followed Him as a disciple, knowing that He is the Way to Eternal Life. With compassion, as she stood at the foot of the Cross, she offered her Son back to the Father, trusting that His sacrifice and her sacrifice had meaning and purpose. With confident hope, she waited for His resurrection to new and glorious life. God the Father picked Mary to be the mother of His Incarnate Son for He knew the invaluable and irreplaceable role that Mary has in Jesus life. God the Father knows that each of us needs a mother to nurture and guide us. He knows that mothers, with their unique feminine strength and wisdom, show us the love, mercy and compassion of God. Today, as we celebrate Mother s Day, we celebrate a spiritual reality. We celebrate all the women mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, godmothers, etc. who bring us the love of God. May all the women who offer a mother s undying and unconditional love be abundantly blessed and honored for showing us the face and heart of God. Through the Intercession of Our Lady of Fatima, May the Peace of Christ be with You Always, Father Tauber 2018 BISHOP S ANNUAL APPEAL Called to Serve Parish Goal: $59,495 Pledges and 1-Time Gifts: $38,118 Amount Collected: $28,363 While Christ s call to serve is unique and personal for each Disciple, every member of our Family of Faith can know with absolute certainty that every one of us is Called to Serve. Together we bring the love of God to tens of thousands of local children, adults and families throughout our entire Diocese.
