1 A Liturgy for Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24, :00 p.m.
2 Welcome Visitors As people made one in the waters of baptism, we believe our lives of faith are strengthened by diversity. We strive to be a community that welcomes all people. We celebrate God s unconditional love and respond joyfully to your presence here. All are welcome. You are welcome. Here are some notes about our congregation and our facility to help you feel at home among us. Nursery A staffed nursery is available for children from birth through age 5 on the sanctuary level down the hall past the drinking fountain. Please sign your child in and out of nursery care. Usually parents gather their children before communion so that they can come to the Table together. An usher will be glad to direct you. (If you prefer to have your child with you in worship, but are worried that they might disturb the service, we also have a crying room upstairs in the balcony. You will be able to hear and see most of the service there.) Restrooms are located on the sanctuary level just past the library. In addition to Men s and Women s rooms there is also a Family room with a changing table. Count Me In Form is that little slip of paper in your worship folder. We ask all worshipers to complete this each week. Special prayer requests may be made on the back of the form and if there are special sign ups you can do that on the back. Place it in the offering plate as it is circulated during the service. Grace Station is an outreach of the church office available every Sunday morning. Office Manager Christina Bogar (or a volunteer) is there to provide information about our church and to receive information such as address, phone or changes, prayer requests and news about illness or hospitalizations. Current newsletters and program information are located there. Look for the check-in desk in the church gathering area. Check out the Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church website at for more information on our congregation, our ministries and many opportunities for service and study. You can also find us on Facebook! Just search for Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church Community. Join us again! We worship every Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. and would be honored to have you join us for worship again, soon, and often. Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church is a Reconciling in Christ congregaon.

(Silence) Almighty God, you made this holy night shine with the brightness of the true Light. Grant that here on earth we may walk in the light of Jesus' presence and in the last day wake to the brightness of his glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. Blessed are you, Holy God, Creator of all and Source of life. At the birth of time your word brought light into the world. In the fullness of time, you sent Jesus, born of Mary, to shine in our darkness and to make us your daughters and sons. In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
8 By your Holy Spirit bless us and this bread and cup, that, held and nourished by you, we may live as your children, shining with the light of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever. Amen. LORD S PRAYER Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. SHARING OF BREAD AND CUP Tonight we commune at stations across the front of the church. The bread is dipped into the red wine or white grape juice, or you may drink from the cup. Gluten-free bread is available. We welcome all who desire to receive the Lord s body and blood for the renewal of life to join us for Holy Communion. Please come forward at the direction of the ushers. Those who do not commune are invited and welcome to come forward for a blessing. HYMNS ELW #270 ELW #296 ELW #279 ELW #289 ELW #286 Hark! The Herald Angels Sing What Child Is This? O Little Town of Bethlehem Angels We Have Heard on High Your Little Ones, Dear Lord PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Let us pray. (Silence) On this day, O God, you gave us Christ the Son to save us. As you sent the one foretold, send us now with good news for all people. Let the gladness of this feast have no end as we share with others the joy that fills us; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
9 Sending CANDLE LIGHTING During the singing of the following hymn please light the candle of the person next to you. HYMN ELW #281 Silent Night BLESSING May Christ, born of Mary, dwell in your hearts and lives this Christmas, and the blessing of God the Father, the + Son, and the Holy Spirit be with you now and always. Amen. Go in peace. Christ is born! Thanks be to God. Candles are extinguished. HYMN ELW #267 Joy to the World Parts of the liturgy adapted from Sundays and Seasons.com.
