Prayer of the Day P Let us pray: Almighty God, You made this holy night shine with the brightness of true Light. Grant that here on earth we may walk in the light of Jesus presence, and in the last day waken to the brightness of his glory; through Your only Son, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 3 Nicene Creed C We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. As a community of believers, we stand as one and confess our faith. Peace P The peace of the Lord be with you always. C And also with you. We make peace with God and each other before coming to the Lord s table. The congregation may be seated. Offering Meal We give back to God out of the abundance with which He has blessed us. For many years, a special Christmas Offering has been taken for ministries supported by King of Glory. This year the Church in Society committee has designated the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day offerings be divided among the following organizations: ELCA Disaster Response, Texas Ramps, Upbring. Offering envelopes may be found in the pew racks. Checks should be made out to King of Glory with Christmas Offering in the memo. Anthem He Whom Joyous Shepherds Praised Gerald Near He whom joyous shepherds praised, when the angel s song was raised bidding them be not amazed, Heaven s all-glorious King is born. He whom sages, westward faring, myrrh and gold and incense bearing, worshipped, bowing low before him, reigns as King this happy morn. Now rejoice with Jesus mother; praise her newborn Son, our brother; Angels vie with one another, praising him beyond the sky. Sing to Christ, the King who reigneth, yet of Mary manhood gaineth, born our God; let us adore him: glory be to God on high. 3

As you gather us around these signs of your love come among us, warm us to extend your care among the hungry and all in need. In Jesus name we pray. Great Thanksgiving We prepare our hearts and minds to receive Christ. 4

5 Sanctus P It is indeed right, out duty, and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Words of Institution With these words, the pastor consecrates the elements for Holy Communion. P Holy One, the beginning and the end, the giver of life: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: C Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. P With this bread and cup we remember your Word dwelling among us, full of grace and truth. We remember our new birth in his death and resurrection. We look with hope for his coming. C Come, Lord Jesus. P Holy God, we long for your Spirit. Come among us. Bless this meal. May your Word take flesh in us. Awaken your people. Fill us with your light. Bring the gift of peace on earth. C Come, Holy Spirit. P All praise and glory are yours, Holy One of Israel, Word of God incarnate, Power of the Most High, one God, now and forever. Lord s Prayer C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 6 Distribution of Communion At King of Glory we welcome all who believe Jesus Christ is present for and with us in the bread and wine. Ushers will guide you forward to a station: take a wafer (gluten-free can be requested) and dip in the wine or white grape juice. Children and adults not communing are invited to come forward for a word of blessing. Open hands show you wish to receive communion; folded hands show you want a blessing. For those unable to come forward, please let an usher know for us to bring the sacrament to you.
