P R O J E C T O F T H E M O N T H : J O H N C A LV I N S C H O O L John Calvin School at the Hogar La Providencia in Santa Marta, Colombia began in 2006 under the leadership of national partner Pastor Jaime Leal. It launched with 32 primarily Chimila Indian students, residents of the children s home. An educational license was granted in 2009, when other neighborhood students enrolled. In 2015, a license for education at both primary and secondary education was granted. There is no nearby public school for the poor neighborhood around the John Calvin School. Most of the families cannot afford to pay the modest school fees. Scholarship funds are greatly needed to enable the school to succeed. Students are taught the Bible and Christian ethics by a chaplain/pastor. It is the culminating phrase of five Solas and means Glory to God Alone. Soli Deo Gloria affords musicians (singers and instrumentalists alike) the opportunity to give back to God from the gifts He has given them. Reflections on Urban Life, Health, and Community is the topic for today s Medical Campus Outreach lunch at 1 PM in Fellowship Hall. Dr. David Chen, a hospitalist in internal medicine and pediatrics in Delaware, will share about the experience of moving into (and out of) an inner city context from his perspective as a physician, Christian, minority person, and neighbor. Please park at Liberty to free up the streets for neighbors, bikers, and those with mobility issues. The garage has entrances between Market and Chestnut Streets on both 16th and 17th Streets. If you use the EZ Park lot at 17th and Pine, you must validate your ticket with an EZ Park rubber stamp they have provided in order to get their reduced rate of $7 (note three-hour limit). The stamp is at the Delancey lobby desk and clearly marked EZ Park. The discounted parking rate for churches is $6 at the Penn Garage (1700 South Street); please stamp your ticket in the Narthex or Delancey lobby.
