Tolton**** For the latest calendar information, please visit Letter from the Grand Knight: Brother Knights, When a person who is not yet a knight, or perhaps he already is a Knight, can t quite understand what we are all about, and maybe all you can recall is BINGO and the unbelievably successful Fish Fry season, remember this the Knights of Columbus is an organized way to express love of neighbor in acts of charity. If that doesn t cause them some inflection, then I don t know what to tell you. My simple understanding is this: if you truly need something done for good, then the Knights can help you get it done one way or another. As Knights, we have something great to give and the first thing we must give is ourselves. That Is what we do. One of the great challenges facing the Church in this generation is to foster in all the faithful sense of responsibility for the Church s mission, and to enable them to fulfill that responsibility as missionary disciples, as a leaven of the Gospel in our World Pope Francis. Flood Assembly #0583 Letter from the Faithful Navigator Dear Brother Sir Knights and Ladies: Columbia will be hosting a 4th Degree Exemplification on June 10, 2017 at Fr. Tolton Catholic High School. The deadline for applications and paperwork has been set for late May, so we will be able to accept everything at the May Assembly meeting. Forms can be found on the state website (mokofc.org) or use this link: Candidates also need to complete the Form 4, copies are in the rack at the hall. While the official date is in March, I usually consider April 1 to be the beginning of Spring. While there is always plenty of spring cleaning to do around the house (if anyone doesn t have that much at their own house please feel free to come over to my place to help out), we should also take the time to do a cleaning of our souls as well. All three Columbia parishes have a communal penance service during Lent March 29 at Sacred Heart, April 3 at Our Lady of Lourdes, and April 4 at the Newman Center; in addition to each parish s regularly scheduled services. Each parish will also be bustling with activity preparing the sanctuary for the various liturgies of Palm Sunday, Holy Week. And Easter. As a member of the Art & Environment committee at Newman for several years, I can tell you that many hands make for light work, and that an artistic ability is NOT a requirement to serve (otherwise they would have kicked me out long ago). Color Corps members should review the Color Corps Drill Manual, available at this LINK. We will have a brief review of drill procedures at the June meeting for those planning to participate in the Supreme Council Convention in August.

4 April 2017 Page 4 Church Eucharistic Adoration is on the second Tuesday of each month at OLL. April 11 th is your next opportunity. Eucharistic Adoration begins following the 8:00 am Mass and ends with Benediction at 7:00 p.m. Please attend Tim Vargesko Chancellor Youth Director About 85 youths & Regional Championships competed in the State Free Throw Championship at on March 12, assisted by several Knights and family members. This completes the Free Throw Championships and the Youth activities until the Soccer Challenge in the fall. I want to express my sincere thanks to all the Knights and family volunteers who helped with this year's championships. Mike Fulca Youth Director Public Relations When a T.V. celebrity promotes a product, does s/he truly believe in that product or is their appearance just another gig? When we promote ourselves as a Council and/or individually, do we promote our accomplishments or are we promoting our convictions? Being a Knight is more than just being a member of a fraternal organization or more than "the guy s night out". If being a member of this Fraternal Organization of Catholic gentlemen is more about our convictions: to be a model of Faith for our families, to contribute our service to Church and Community, to grow in our Faith among like-minded Catholics who can support us and inspire us, to be part of something bigger than ourselves so that through our combined efforts we can satisfy for ourselves that sense of fulfillment in our lives, then being a Knight is truly a meaningful membership. When we answer the question for ourselves: Why am I a Knight? then we can proudly proclaim, with conviction, "I am a member of the Knight of Columbus. Once we are armed with the certainty of our conviction, it becomes evident to the Community and to our Parish Family. John Sullivan Public Relations Chair
