Prayers of the People One: Gracious God, you are so good to us. Today we offer a prayer of thanksgiving for all of the blessings revealed to us through Christian camping and outdoor ministries. For the gifts of your good creation, which we encounter when we are camping: for forests and fields, beaches, streams and lakes, sunrises and sunsets, wind and rain, All: we give you thanks, O God. One: For your gift of time and the cycle of nature; for opportunities in the out-of-doors to reflect, and to feel your presence very near to us; for rest and recreation, All: we give you thanks, O God. One: For the dedication of countless people who have supported this ministry through offerings of time and talent: builders, counsellors, and instructors; for the gifts of all who create and maintain an environment of faithfulness and healing through their example at camp, All: we give you thanks, O God. 4 -4- *Hymn You Shall Go Out with Joy VU#884 *Benediction We have been reminded today that camp is a gift to us and to the church at large. The stillness of the morning air; the sureness of the earth as our foundation; the joy of the lake, river, or ocean; and the warmth of community around the fire are all gifts that we receive at United Church camps. These are just a few of the ways by which we can enter into Sabbath. Go into the world knowing that you are called to still the chaos in your life, and that God provides many resources with which you can achieve that stillness. This is the good news; we are loved beyond all measure and are provided with all our spirits need. We are not alone. Thanks be to God! The Pastoral Care Committee is in need of both men and women to visit with members of our church family. If you are mature,

7 compassionate and a good listener - we could use your help a few hours every couple of months. Birthright is looking for volunteers to work with our clients. Training and flexible hours available. Please call for info. Volunteers Needed! Elf recruits and trains community volunteers for providing grade two students one-on-one support for practicing their literacy skills. We are preparing for our spring reading sessions already and can always use more volunteers. May Intermediates at Conference (IAC) and Youth Forum (YF) are each a place of community and a place of faith where United Church youth, between the ages of Gr. 7 Gr. 9 (IAC) and Grade 10 and age 19 (YF), meet from across the Maritimes, the Gaspé, and Bermuda. It takes place during the Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference, which is a gathering of representatives who make decisions and set policies for the United Church of Canada. The UCW continues to collect: Postage stamps for Oxfam Canada. The border of the stamps should be trimmed to ¼. eye glasses for distribution to Third world countries. Milk bags for sleeping mats for Haiti (Hillcrest School). You may drop any of these items in the wooden box at the entrance of the Bessborough door. Thank you for helping with these endeavours. If anyone has an extra cane or umbrella they would like to donate to the church, we would like to have a few spares to leave in the entrance for anyone who may need to borrow them.
