Welcome & Life and Work of the Community Lighting of the Christ Candle Opening Song Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying VU#400 Lord Listen to Your Children Praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, Send us love, send us power, send us grace! Call to Worship God you have called us to come in, to be in this place, a place where Spirit dwells. You call us just to be, as we are, and as we might become; to worship together as one, to celebrate your goodness, to fellowship with one another. How good it is to be part of the family. *Hymn Come In, Come In and Sit Down VU#395 Gathering Prayer (in unison) from Ephesians 3, adapted I ask God from the wealth of his glory to give us power through his Spirit to be strong in our inner selves, and I pray that Christ will make his home in our hearts through faith. I pray that we may have our roots and foundation in love, so that we,

2 together with all God's people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ's love. Yes, may we come to know his love although it can never be fully known and so be completely filled with the very nature of God. May it be so. Amen. The Lord s Prayer (in unison) VU#910 Hymn For the Crowd of Thousands VU#355 Theme Time Sing: For All Your Goodness, God VU#549 Prayer of Confession From Celebrate God s Presence, p. 41. Used with permission. Compassionate One, hear our prayer: stretch out your hand in healing love. Create in us a clean heart O God, and renew your Spirit within us. Silent Prayers of Confession (A moment of silence) Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy. Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy. Words of Affirmation From Celebrate God s Presence, p. 43, adapted God is the one that over and around us lies; the grace that is totally unearned; and the healing that makes the earth whole. Give thanks to God; We are forgiven! Amen and Amen. Prayer for Illumination Ephesians 3:14-21 The Love of Christ One: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. John 6:1-21 Jesus feeds a large crowd. One: This is the Good News of Jesus Christ. All: Praise to Christ the Word!

Because of lower numbers, the Hubbard Unit met for their last meeting in June with the decision to join the Bremner Unit. In September there will be one Unit to carry on with our work here at Mount Royal. We will gather in the Board Room at 11:30 on Tuesday, September 11. This is a perfect time for new members to come along, bring your lunch, enjoy our fellowship time, devotions and brief program. UCW Candlelight Communion Service - This year's service will be on Wednesday, December 5. The theme is ''Faces of Joy" and the following dates are set for planning: September 18, Tuesday at 11:00 October 16, Tuesday at 11:00, November 20, Tuesday at 11:00 Please let us know if you are able to help in any way.

6 The UCW continues to collect: Postage stamps for Oxfam Canada. The border of the stamps should be trimmed to ¼. eye glasses for distribution to Third world countries. Aluminum pop can closure tabs You may drop any of these items in the containers at the entrance of the Bessborough door. Thank you for helping with these endeavours. No Scents make good sense. If you have and would like to receive notices regarding cancellations and other items of interest, please put your name and address on a piece of paper in the collection plate. Thank you. Thanks to a generous donation we have a transport wheelchair, rollator and walker in the church. These will be stored at the back of the sanctuary and are there should the need arise for anyone experiencing mobility issues during services or activities at the church. We continue to support ReConnect. Following their reorganization, they will provide a more detailed list of required items. From UCW - A Special Thank You to all those who have contributed and continue to support the coffee and conversation gatherings after the Sunday service. Your gifts of food items as well as coffee and tea are very much appreciated. We welcome your help at any time and food items do not need to be home baked, healthy choices are always a plus. We hope that this fellowship time continues to be part of the warmth and friendliness shown to visitors and newcomers, Mount Royal folks, young and not so young. Thank you! There is a sign-up sheet next to the coffee window. Please be advised that we now have the technology to permit the screen operators to record and post on the church website, any regular or special services held in the sanctuary. If anyone would like to have a copy of an upcoming service on a disk, they should contact the office. The following is an updated list of the YMCA ReConnect s most needed items: shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, razors, tampons, non-perishable food items: canned meats, granola bars, hearty soups, Kraft dinner, trail mix, socks and underwear (both male and female), gently used winter hats, gloves, food vouchers for the grocery store, Tim Horton s Gift Cards
