5 COME TO THE MOVIES! On Saturday night, October 18th, we plan to have a pot luck supper and a movie followed by discussion. This will be along the theme of Israeli/Palestine s longstanding difficulties. Rev. Steve Berube, from St. Paul s U.C. in Riverview will join us, and is guest preacher on Sunday 19th. SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR Oct 19 th : Exodus 33: 12 23; Psalm 99; 1 Thessalonians 1: 1 10; Matthew 22: YOUNG PEOPLE'S ENCOUNTER IN MATANZAS, CUBA SUMMER 2015 Information Session, Saturday, October 18th All teenagers, young adults, parents, friends and other interested persons are invited to an information session about a young people's encounter in Stanzas, Cuba, during the summer of The encounter will explore international problems with Cuban counterparts. The information session will take place on Saturday, October 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the parlour of Wilmot United Church. A pizza lunch will be provided. If you cannot attend this meeting and want more information, please contact Greg Black ( ), chair of the Cuba Twinning Committee. ADVANCE NOTICE: Marlene is on vacation Oct. 20, 21 and 22 nd. The church office will NOT be open those days. On Monday Dylan will be in the building Tuesday the building will open at 10 a.m. and someone will be here all day. OCT. 19: HARVEST HYMNS: On Sunday, October 19 th, 3pm, at Christ Church Parish Church, the Fredericton Organists Association will be holding their 14 th annual hymn sing. This year s event will feature young musicians and children s choirs from local churches. All are invited to attend and sing well known hymns of thanksgiving and praise and support our talented youth! Admission is free and a free will offering will be collected to support the work of the Fredericton Organists Association. 6

7 OCT. 21: Symphony New Brunswick will be performing the first two concerts of its season in Fredericton at Wilmot United Church. We are thrilled to perform at this historic location and expect that the audience will appreciate the fine acoustics as well as the ambience. The first program of the season "Celebrating the Passion" reveals the depth and quality of performance in Symphony New Brunswick that has been developing since Michael Newnham took to the podium. One of New Brunswick's favourite new Canadians, Ludmila Knezova Hussey will play Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto backed by a 55 piece orchestra. This Piano Concerto is one of the best known in the repertoire and possibly the most passionate piece in Tchaikovsky's repertoire. Keeping the program well within the Northern Hemisphere, the Orchestra will also be playing Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2. This piece, like Sibelius' Finlandia, played in the opening concert last season, is passionately patriotic, distinctive and heart lifting. Maestro Newnham has chosen the piece "Little Suite" by Witold Lutosławski as the opener to the season in response to his personal passion for Poland and the influences that its music has had on his personal life and musical development. OCT. 22: Gibson Memorial United Church will be hosting a Turkey Dinner, Wednesday, Oct. 22, 4:15 6 p.m. Tickets; $12/adult and $3/child. Please call to reserve your tickets! OCT. 27 th : The Women s Inter Church Council will be celebrating its 50 th Anniversary on Monday, Oct. 27 th, at Brunswick Street Baptist Church. There will be a special service at 11:00 a.m.. luncheon at noon and then the Annual General Meeting at 1:15 p.m. Please contact Debbie Heustis by Oct. 20 th at if you plan to attend so we can prepare for the luncheon. WILMOT SENIORS FALL LUNCH OUT: Please join us for a beautiful drive down river and a delicious lunch on October 21 as we travel to Gagetown for lunch at the Creekview Restaurant. Lunch is $15 (including tax and gratuity) and includes your choice of corn or seafood chowder, a half chicken or western sandwich, and delicious home made pumpkin, coconut cream or apple pie for dessert.
