1 St. Philip Information and News (SPIN) June 27, 2018 Church News The church office will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Since the SPIN is sent out on Wednesdays, next week it will go out Tuesday, July 3. All articles must be in to Angela Seep by 9am July 3. Altar Flowers Flowers for this weekend have been given by Pastor Brad and Roseanna Doty in celebration of their 10th wedding anniversary. If you are interested in donating flowers, please contact the church office. The cost is $25 and needs to be prepaid. You are welcome to take the flowers home after the second service on Sunday. Please return the vase to the church when finished. Sabbatical for Pastor Brad Pastor Brad will have been at St. Philip for six years as of August 15! He feels that he has been blessed by the people of St. Philip and is encouraged by the work God has done and continues to do at and through St. Philip. He also looks forward to continue to serve at St. Philip as your associate pastor. Starting on January 1, 2019, Pastor Brad will take a three month sabbatical, returning on April 1. Our 28 youth and adults are currently in Houston; please keep them in your prayers as they attend the youth gathering. If you re interested in seeing what our youth are experiencing, you can watch live video from the event. 2 Church Needs/Fundraising Needs-Urgent We have some very specific needs for this week. See if you can help us out with the following: Friday, June 29-Overnight host needed; Friday, June 29-Van driver needed for 4:30-5:30pm; Saturday, June 30-Van driver needed for both slots (9am-10am and 4:30-5:30pm). More Worship Needs The Worship Styles and Formats team is looking for someone to organize the decorating of the sanctuary for special services. We are also looking for someone to place orders for supplies, such as communion cups, candles, etc. The ordering can be done mostly online from your home. Contact Jan Philpy for details. VBS Volunteers Needed Adult volunteers are needed for VBS! Job descriptions and sign up is at vbspro.events/p/events/stphilip. Food Bank Volunteer Opportunity Looking for a volunteer opportunity? For everyone who volunteers at the Food Bank of the Rockies, Sharing with Sheridan Food Pantry gets credit to use for food purchase. It s a win-win! We have a group scheduled to work on Saturday July 7 from 9am - 12pm. If you would like to help, contact Carole Kessler at or ckess911@aol.com. Come to This Changes Everything! VBS to engage in Bible stories, play, sing, create, and snack with friends! VBS is July 9-13, 9am noon for 4-year-olds through incoming 4 th grade. Cost is $40 for the first child, $30 for each additional child. Register at vbspro.events/p/events/stphilip. The St. Philip Arts Academy is July 9-12, 12:30-4:30pm for incoming 5 th grade and older. Cost is $40 for the first student, $30 for each additional student. Students will take part in Bible Theme and Music classes, plus two electives of their choice. 3 Events Love INC Community Picnic & IMPACT Graduation Our local mission partner, Love INC, is hosting a community picnic on Thursday, June 28 (starting at 5pm at Skyview Presbyterian) for volunteers, ministry participants/clients, and potential partners/clients. In conjunction with their graduation celebration for two IMPACT participants; the picnic dinner will be an opportunity to affirm the hard work of their clients who are taking steps to transform their lives and discover their God-given purpose and potential through the help of partner churches and volunteers.
