Jesus taught we are to give not because the church needs, but because we need the spiritual practice of generosity. Jesus teaches that we honor God through giving 10% (or more) to the church. However, God calls each of us to use our gifts in unique ways to bless others, so below are some things that we believe God is calling us to in How can you invest yourself to help make these possible? Expand our Reach through Worship: Journey Worship Live Online: this year we anticipate broadcasting our entire service online, to help people stay connected when sick or away. We also are planning to test virtual worship when groups are out of town (Kentucky Lake, Mission Teams, other group services). Partner with Area Churches: God is calling First UMC in the next few years to partner with area churches to reach new generations of people in their communities through worship, groups and missions. Expand our Impact with New Generations: New Children s Ministry Leaders: God is calling us to reach new generations and this will require additional investment in staff, as we continue to have an increasing number of children and youth. We also need to add at least 15 new unpaid leaders to help with next generation ministries at First UMC. Upgrade Worship Space: over the next few years we need to continue to upgrade our worship space, video, lighting and sound to help us continue to be relevant and engaging to new generations. Growth Group Leaders: in a large church, growth groups are essential to help people stay connected and grow in faith. Since we have a large number of new faces, we need at least 10 new Group leaders. Expand our Service in Mission Teams and Ministry Teams: Increase both Staff and Unpaid Leaders: presently we have the fewest paid ministry staff in over a decade, and we are a much larger church. We are working to identify and grow 15 new ministry leaders, 40 new ministry participants & 100 new people serving in mission ministries! [This means we will ask you!] Increase Generosity: Additional Ministry Staff: we currently need at least an additional $40,000 /year to fund additional ministry staff to assist in ways listed above. Building Repairs & Improvements: we need an additional $40,000 /year to fund Building Repairs and Improvements. Rather than asking for individual repairs (roof, parking lot, air conditioners, etc.) We would like to budget an increased amount annually for major repairs and improvements. Become Debt-Free: we would like to pay off the building loan (approximately $150,000) in 2017! 150th Celebration: 2017 is the 150th Anniversary of First UMC! We inherited a wonderful legacy from past generations, and this Fall we will be challenged about how we will carry this vision into the future. As you read though this report, how is God calling you to step out in 2017? Please join us in seeing what God will do this year!

3 SERVE ministries Number of people who serve during the week: 14 Staff 2 Counters 2 Lockup 6 Office Volunteers 2 Bookkeepers 3 Building Maintenance 15 outside groups 10 Spiritual Growth Group Leaders 54+ Servants Number of people who serve every Sunday: 17 Connections Team 4 Communion Servers 6 Hospitality 8 Chair Setup/Cleanup 3 Cooks/Special Meals 2 Mission Tent 18 Music 5 Media/Sound 16 Children s Leaders 2 Fuse 2 Youth 7 Adult Leaders 2 Lockup 4 Counters 1 Bus Driver 2 Pastors 2 Services 99 Servants Leading people in new life with Jesus! Our mission at First UMC is to lead people in new life with Jesus! Inside you will find our Mission Report about some ways we measure that in You will notice that we had more people join the church and be baptized, than we lost by moving away or through death. You will notice that we had record numbers involved in missions and growth groups. You will notice that we spent less than was given, so that we can replenish our financial reserves. You will notice that there are many numbers that you may have never thought about or didn t know we measured. These numbers are important to us, because every number has a name and every name matters. These are the names of our 17 confirmands who decided to follow Jesus, and the hundreds of children who have learned about God s love through First Kids. These are the names of the people we have helped through our mission events, and the relationships that we have made with people in the community. These are the names of people who every Sunday open the doors, make the coffee, lock the doors and stack chairs. These are the names of people that have come to church for the first time ever, looking for God in their lives. These names are important to us, because we know they are important to God. These numbers matter and help us measure how we are leading people in new life with Jesus. Know that in 2017 we have some exciting dreams and some big challenges. As you read through what we have done in 2016, please pray that God will do even greater things in 2017! As you read through our Ministry Report, celebrate the ways your name is represented - and listen for God to lead you to make a bigger impact in To worship more. To grow more. To serve more. To give more. To invite more. It is exciting to think about what God will do in 2017!
