The book is "Paul" a biography by N.T. Wright. He is a Church of England professor who has focused his work on the New Testament and Early Christianity. This book is written so the layperson and clergy can understand the life of Paul and what makes Paul so important to the Christian faith. We will have two meetings a week to choose from to better fit your schedules. Those two meetings and how many times a month we will meet will be determined at the first meeting. The ISBN (hardcover) number will help you purchase the correct book by N.T. Wright. If you want the church office to order the book please let us know. Estimated cost is $17 plus shipping and handling. See you at the meeting or let the office know your wishes for meeting times and dates. First Communion Classes - First Communion class will be offered October 23 and 25 at 6:30 pm. You may bring any age person to the class. You are encouraged to bring younger people to a refresher class. Please let the office know if you are coming. Thank You. 100 Years Young - Grandpa Bob is turning 100 on Friday November 2, There will be an open house at Wheatland Manor Assisted Living from 2 to 4. Cake and ice cream will be served. All Saints Sunday - All Saints Sunday is November 4. We will light candles and ring the bell in remembrance of those Saints that have died this past year. 3 First Communion Classes First Communion classes will be offered at Faith on Tuesday, October 23, at 6:30 and Thursday, October 25, at 6:30. People of all ages are welcome. It is recommended that all children attend class before receiving communion. First Communion will be on Sunday, October 28, as part of the Reformation Celebration. On this day, we remember with thanksgiving those saints who have gone before us. At our baptism, God made us saints as well, and wrapped us in the pure, white robes of eternal life. There will be a sign-up sheet in both churches to add the names of those dear to you who have died this past year. Or you may phone the names in to the church office ( ).

4 September Council Meetings Joint Council Pastor s report: 9 youth attended the first class. PCC may have a report in October. Pastor intends to retire in January of Worship Committee: Reformation Services on October 28 will be led by God Squad. First Communion will also be celebrated. All Saints Sunday is November 4. Thanksgiving Service will be held at Faith on Sunday, November 18, with a 5 p.m. worship service and meal at 6 p.m. Advent Wednesday worship services will include a meal at 6 p.m. followed by worship at 7 p.m. Locations are: o Dec. 5 at Our Savior s o Dec. 12 at Faith o Dec 19 at Faith Christian Outreach Committee Outdoor Movie Night at Our Savior s is on Sunday, September 23, with 6 p.m. supper and 7 p.m. movie Ferdinand Breakfast of pancakes and sausages will be served on Reformation Sunday, October 28. New Business: Basket Raffle proceeds will be split in half between the CALCO and Backpack Food Project at C/W School. God Squad Youth are asked to report what they are doing to the board and to stay for the meeting each month. CROP Walk collection will be taken on Sunday, September 16. CROP Walk is Sunday, October 7, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul s UMC in Grand Mound. Faith Council Parsonage siding is done. Gutters will be installed soon. Council will manage the repair of the stool in women s lower bathroom. Council is concerned about the monthly utilities cost at the church. Monitoring the shutting off/on of the AC and Heating system during the week was discussed. Gasper will research a wi-fi method of controlling the units. Bousselot will discuss efficient use of AC in office areas with Rebecca and Pastor. Our Savior's Council Waiting on quotes for siding. Discussed how Faith paid between 25k to 35k for their elevator. Discussed renter situation.
