three-year levy callng for a maxmum of 15 mlls for operatng ex- penses "We do not beleve the voters fully understood the urgency and need lor ths mllage n Monday's electon," sad Board of Educaton Presdent Neal Weathers at Tuesday nght's monthly meetng The proposal was turned down by 113 votes Monday as 994 "no" ballots were recorded and 881 affrmatve votes were cast A group pf dstrct resdents, headed by Jack Landman, Jm Crosby, Dan Coopman and Charles Anderson, formed a specal ctzens commttee to assst the board n the next mllage electon The plan was gven board approval at Tuesday's meetng at a cost lower than the average for Kent County dstrcts and that the dstrct had made much better progress than most Monday's turnout of 1,889 voters was termed as moderate by school offcals The greatest pluralty of "no" votes were regstered n Precnct 2, emcompassng Cascade and Ada, where the dfferental was 103 votes aganst the mllage The count was 488 n favor and 591 opposed wth 10 ballots spoled Votng n Precnct 1 showed 403 "no" votes, 393 "yes" returns and four spoled ballots Voters Back ssue for 125 Mlls Voters n the Area School Dstrct, by a 3-2 margn, gave the board of Educaton a resoundng vote of confdence Monday n approvng a request for operatng mllage for two years The margn of vctory was 337 votes as 948 electors gave the board authorty to levy up to 125 mlls for the years and 1971 The vote n Precnct No 1 was 787 for the mllage request and 481 opposed wth four spoled ballots whle Precnct No 2 recorded a favorable vote wth two ballots spoled The turnout of 1,565 was
