2 From the Pastor s Desk P A G E 2 Annual Seminar Excitement It s that time of year again as we prepare for our Annual Seminar which will be held this year on Monday, November 12 th through Wednesday, the 14 th. We are grateful to God for the opportunity we have, to be a part of an awesome week of teaching and preaching on such a relevant theme this year: Developing the Christ That s in You. As we all know, our church theme for this year 2018 has been, Transformed into His Image, As We Serve for His Glory. Throughout the year in Bible Study and in many of my sermons, I have been expounding on and reiterating the truth of what God is doing in the lives of every true believer that has accepted His Son into their hearts and lives. He is transforming each of us into the image of His Son. Romans 8:29 says, for whom He did foreknow, them He also did predestinate, to be conformed into the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. In II Corinthians 3:18, our Theme Scripture states, And we all, with unveiled faces, reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit NET). So, whether we acknowledge it or not, God s goal for all of us is that we reflect the image of His Son, in our walk, our witness and our work. Now that Christ is in us, through the person of the Holy Spirit, we can become just like Him and do the same works that He did, according to John 14:12. The reason why many of us as believers struggle with this reality and fall short of reflecting His image is not because we don t have Him in our lives or the potential to be like Him. It s because the Christ, who is in us, has not yet been fully developed. The apostle Paul, in His letter to the saints at Galatia declared, Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives. (NLT) The issue is not that we can t be like Him, or that we don t have enough faith to do what He did. The real issue is the fact that the Christ who is in us must be fully developed. When a baby is born, we do all that we can as parents to make sure the child has everything they need to develop into a fullgrown, mature adult. We make sure they are properly fed with good nutritious food, get proper rest and exercise. We make sure they get a good education, teaching them at home how to walk and talk, and then at the appropriate age, sending them to school to learn what they need to learn to be prepared for life. The same is true with our walk and spiritual growth in Christ. I Peter 2:2 says, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. Because He who is in us must be nurtured and fed, so that we can become all that He is, and desires to be, in us. The seminar this year is designed to help us with do just that: develop the Christ who is already in us, so that we can truly be transformed into His image and begin to do the works He is calling us in His Name in our day and time. We are excited about this year s seminar. I believe God is going to do a great work in our midst through the instructors, and the mighty word they will teach and preach. I trust and pray that every member will come out for this time of intense spiritual learning and awakening. I believe that after this seminar we will begin to tap into the potential that God has already placed inside of us in the person of the Holy Spirit, Christ in you, the Hope of Glory. So, come out, and experience Him in His fullness in you. Making A Difference With Our VOTE One of the greatest opportunities we have, to truly make a difference in our communities, our state and our nation, is through the power of our vote. Not only is it our God-given right, but it is our responsibility as citizens, and especially as Christians, to influence and impact our government by casting our vote for those candidates who share our values and concerns, and by voting for or against those issues that would affect God s people in a positive or negative way. We cannot sit back and allow the evil forces that are taking this country of ours backwards, continue to be in control of our government. As Dr. King once said, evil prevails when good men do nothing. We can make a difference in this critical election and every election if we unite our voices and allow them to be heard loud and clear through our collective VOTE. Today, November 4 th, after our morning worship, we will be participating in the Souls To The Polls campaign, as churches throughout or city take their members who have not voted yet to the Board of elections to vote. The Board of Elections will be open today from 1:00 5:00 p.m. Van transportation will be available for today as well as on Tuesday, Election Day. We need every registered voter to cast their vote for the kingdom of God and make a difference in our county, state and nation. Remember, YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!
