2 MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! General Theme For This Quarter: Kingdomtide August 26 - December 1, 2012 (The pulpit attire is green) We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. The cloths on the Communion table and podium are changed to coincide with each season of the Christian calendar. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 24 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. GOD CALLS FOR JUSTICE: Old Testament Survey This quarter s study offers an Old Testament survey following the theme of justice in the early church. This quarter also offers insight into God s ongoing relationship with Israel and all the people He created. We hope that you will join us as we are focusing on: UNIT #3 JUSTICE PROMISED These last four passages examine some of the Old Testament texts that prophesy God s coming judgments. The first is from Psalm 146. The remaining lessons are from the Major Prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. THIS WEEK S LESSON GOD PROMISED TO BE WITH US Ezekiel 34:23 31 The kings of Israel and Judah were self serving and neglected the needs of the people. The results of the shepherds neglect is that the sheep are scattered and unprotected. In this lesson, we learn about God restoring order and justice. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: September 2, 2012 FAITH CALLS FOR PERSEVERENCE Hebrews 10:19 31 We can be secure about our spiritual lives. The writer of Hebrews tells us that through faith and because of the blood of Jesus, our sins can be forgiven and we can experience the presence of God in a new and lifegiving way. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell someone else what Jesus has done in your life! 2

I think educating people with events like voter forums is a great way to get them registered and to the polls and I am grateful for the opportunity to educate the members of Mount Olive on these issues. OLIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CIVIC MINISTRY The Civic Ministry is proud to announce our participation in the Henrico County NAACP Henrico Ministers Conference Voter Registration & NAACP Membership Drive Initiative. This is your opportunity to prepare yourself, and members of your household who are 18 years of age (or will be 18 yrs. of age by November 6, 2012) and older, for the Presidential Election. If you have not registered to vote or had a change of address, stop by the voter registration table in the Narthex, or outside the church office, and prepare yourself for this life changing election. Information and application forms for restoration of voting rights, and absentee voting for those who cannot get to the polls on Election Day, will also be available. In the past century, our fore parents stood united in their mission to be heard through democracy s power THE VOTE; and the opposition they face buckled under the power of their united strength.
