Because, honestly, if we don t start getting it right, we may lose an entire generation. This video-enhanced class begins Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. and continues for five weeks. Last winter the church was required by city code to have a recycling system, which includes a dumpster service. Initially the dumpster was placed in the southwest corner of the parking lot, taking up several parking spaces. An idea was adopted to expand our waste dumpster enclosure to include the recycle dumpster. The planning to do this as an Eagle Scout project began in January and took months of planning and estimating. The Board of Trustees agreed to contribute $750 in church facility funds, with the Boy Scouts raising the rest (about $450) through donations. They provided all planning, purchasing, and labor. locked to prevent unauthorized dumping of trash into our dumpsters.) Matt is a 16-year-old home-schooled student, junior classification, and a member of Bethany Approximately 35 Boy Scouts and adults were involved in the project, providing 242 hours of labor over two weekends this fall. The result is a very nice enclosure for our recycle dumpster, which allowed us to regain parking spaces and save several thousand dollars compared to commercially contracted construction. (The enclosure is kept Lutheran Church. He has been involved in scouting since the first grade, with the last six in Boy Scouts. He expects to complete a few more requirements in the next few months and receive his Eagle Scout award in January. We wish him continued success in scouting and in pursuit of his life dreams.
