3 Thank-you Stevenson UMC for Hosting the Clergy Connection Salisbury District Clergy gathered on Thursday, Nov 16, at Stevenson UMC in Berlin for the monthly Clergy Connection. Chief Downing of the Berlin Police Department (and member at St Paul s UMC in Berlin) shared information about preparedness for emergency situations. Our thanks to Rev. Ron Schatz and the lovely folks at Stevenson for the lunch and warm hospitality. Pictured (l-r) are: Peggy Murray, Bob Murray, Kathy Davis, Gary Caldwell, and Peggy Caldwell. Thanks!! St. Martins Children s Sunday School Pack 70 Shoeboxes. What an amazing group. This has been St. Martin s third year packing Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. My vision increases each year and I m sure this years goal has been met. Without the love and support of my church family, New Hope UMC, coworkers, friends, and family this would not have been possible. Also a huge thank you to Mid Atlantic heating and air conditioning for their support. To God be the glory.

8 CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION The Pastoral Care Department at Peninsula Regional Medical Center is pleased to offer a Spring 2018 class in Clinical Pastoral Education. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is clinical education for ministers, seminarians and lay pastoral leaders to develop pastoral care skills. Attention is given to meeting the spiritual needs of patients, families, staff and CPE members. This program is a minimum of 400 hours of supervised learning per unit of training. The Spring program unit is from January 19,2018 ending May 25, with 6 hours of seminar weekly on Fridays from Three hundred clinical patient visitation hours are required. The educational approach used in CPE is described as action-reflection-action. Students provide pastoral care to patients, family members and staff, and then use their experiences for reflection and learning. Students participate in seminars that provide direct supervision, peer interaction, or accountability for one s professional functioning. While seminary courses provide the basis for the theology of pastoral care, CPE provides the clinical component of theological education by emphasizing learning by doing. Peninsula Regional Medical Center is affiliated with Community Care Chaplains of Arizona, and is a satellite training center,, under direction of Training Supervisor Rev. Geoff Tio, accredited by the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, (CPSP). Classes are under the instruction of a Supervisor-in- Training. More information about Clinical Pastoral Education is available through the Pastoral Care Department at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, by calling , or joyce.lecates@peninsula.org. Applications are being taken now. Deadline for application is Jan. 1, 2018 Class size is limited to 6. Tuition for the full unit, 16 week class is $400 plus textbook fees. Application fee is $25 (non refundable) which will be applied to tuition if accepted into the program.
9 CHANCEL AREA FURNITURE AVAILABLE Our former church in Upper Fairmount, Christ UMC, which has been closed for several years, has in it some beautiful chancel area furniture that the District Trustees would like to "donate" to another UM church for its sanctuary. We do not know how old this furniture is, but it is in excellent condition, as you can see by the pictures below. If your church is in need of newer furniture for the chancel area, please call me at the District office. "First come, first serve."
