A warm welcome to all on this special day in the life of Messiah and especially in the history of our school. Thank you for joining us in praising the Lord for the past 25 years of His unfailing grace. Thank you We thank Pastor Sam Rodebaugh for bringing us the message of God s love in action through Christian education. Pastor Rodebaugh is a son of the congregation and a graduate of our school. Wednesday Bible class Sometimes it may seem as though the people in your life just happen to be there by random chance. But nothing could be further from the truth. Family, friends, co-workers, classmates, and many others are part of our lives by God s direction. They are agents of His grace. At Wednesday s Bible class we will continue our study of the people in King David s life, see how God used them for David s blessing, and how He does the same in our lives. This week s study focuses on David s pastor, the prophet Nathan. Everyone is welcome! We will have our usual 8 a.m. service with Holy Communion. The examination service will begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by the confirmation service and Communion at 10:45 a.m. Mielke farewell: On Sunday, June 10th, there will be only one service at 9:00 a.m., so that we all can give the Mielke family our best wishes and prayers for the Lord s blessings upon their move to Eau Claire. 4 Confession and Absolution: P: God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. C: If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 5 As the world around us becomes ever more calloused toward sin and more hostile to Your Word, the need for thorough Christian education has never been greater. It starts in the home, and so we pray that You would instill in all our parents a sense of urgency toward bringing up their children in Your Word. May they make it the priority in their daily schedule. May daily devotions be an important part of life in all our homes. May we as a congregation encourage and assist in the instruction of children through Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and our Christian day school. As our nation observes Memorial Day tomorrow, we thank You for all those who sacrificed their lives in defense of our country. Protect those who protect us in the armed forces. Give them an appreciation for the importance of their work. Grant them integrity and faithfulness in their duties. Comfort their families when they are called to serve far from home. Above all, lead them to look to You as their defender of body and soul. Bless our time together here in Your name. Grant safe travels home and a joyful week in service to you in whatever calling You place us. In Jesus name. Amen. The Lord s Prayer Old Testament lesson: Proverbs 2:1-8.The Lord promises divine wisdom to all who seek it in His Word. Choir: In Christ Alone Epistle lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31.Don t let the so-called wisdom of the world blind you to the saving wisdom of Christ crucified. The Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 7 4

Dear Lord God, the source of true, saving wisdom: We praise You for revealing to us in Your holy Word the things which otherwise no eye could see, no ear could hear, and no mind could conceive. For by nature we are dead in sin and what seems to be wisdom is really the worst kind of foolishness. But by the loving and patient instruction of the Holy Spirit in Your Word, You have called us out of darkness and unbelief and have opened our eyes to see and trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Sermon: Proverbs 22:6 TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN WITH THE LORD I. To rely on Christ. II. While relying on Christ. We thank You especially for the blessings of our Christian day school over the past 25 years. Daily lessons in Your Word, seeing Your hand at work in history and in every aspect of life, and spending time with fellow believers are priceless preparations for adult life. We see the fruit of Christian education among us in former students whose own children are now attending our school. We thank You, as well, for our teachers, both past and present: for their love for You, their selfless service, and for their example of a godly life. Bless the graduate of our school and all those among us graduating from high school or college. Guide them in their plans for the future.
