2 ANNUAL MEETING ARTICLE FOR 2015/2016 (Annual Meeting, June 26, 2016) I am writing this report fresh from the J2E3 evangelism conference at Hales Corners Lutheran Church. (J2E3 means Jesus to everyone, everywhere, every day. ) While I cannot say that I learned anything truly new at this conference, I can say that it was very uplifting. I can also say that it was fortifying to me to see that all the conference participants (from mostly LCMS congregations but others as well) are dealing with the exact same issues. No matter the denomination of the Christian Church in America, we are all in the same boat facing the same consequences of our secularizing American culture. However, the good news is that the remedy for this present falling away from congregational life is the same as it has always been: L-O-V-E. LOVE & UNITY was a major theme of this conference, citing that Church congregations that love one another well have a stronger sense of unity and, therefore, are most effective at outreach and evangelization. For our Lord Jesus Christ himself made a firm connection between love and unity for the sake of evangelical mission: As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. I am happy to report that there is a growing culture of love and unity at Adoration. I personally feel the love and prayers of many of my fellow parishioners for my family and I, and I think there is a palpable spirit of love and unity among all of us at Adoration. We are also continuing to reach out to welcome and follow up with visitors, and I believe a continual spirit of love and unity among us will help us evangelize and include new enthusiastic members over the coming months of 2016/2017. We must always keep an inclusive focus on our Lord Jesus Christ, first and foremost, and always seek to introduce all people to our Savior Jesus. In addition, the direction of our congregation will stay on course as we continually work at including and integrating our newer members into the ministry of Adoration ELCA, and as we reach out to those current members who are presently un-involved or under-involved with our congregational life and mission. 3 Here are some of the items discussed at the June Church Council meeting: Pastor Tim gave a brief report on the mission summit he attended in Hales Corners. A letter to non-givers was sent out recently with the hope that those non-givers would make an attempt to give offerings to the church. Larry Schultz mentioned concern about our dead/dying ash trees. Sharon Anderson reported on the Edgerton street meeting she attended. Judy Johnson presented a request from AAA for a music group The Accidentals to be asked to play at our picnic on August 14. The rummage sale brought in $3, Thank you to Kathy Albrecht for her work supplying lunch for those who helped at the rummage/ book sale. The Evangelism Committee may change its meeting time to evenings. Please pray for the Meru Diocese as they prepare for the election of a new bishop in August. The book sale raised 1, We are asked to purchase Meru Coffee. Larry Schultz reported that the PrideFest Parade went well despite the tragic events in Orlando. Sue Clark reported that she will begin a can Malaria fundraiser. Pastor Tim mentioned that the Worship & Music Committee continues to explore a drop down projection screen. The youth had a successful brat fry during the rummage and book sale, totaling $ Thank you to Charlie Eigner, Frank Bednar, and Ted Lazaris for their help with cooking and grilling. At the recommendation of Pastor Tim and Lori Hamilton, Larry Schultz moved that we continue with the electronic mailing of the monthly newsletter since that is saving us money. The task force chaired by Connie Yersin will be determining what to do with the Sunday School carts. For more information on any or all of these items, please check the complete Council minutes posted on the kiosk in the Gathering Space or contact one of your Council representatives. YOUR CHURCH NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT The summer months are always difficult for the churches finances. This year we do not have any money in reserve to help us through. Please keep this in mind when preparing your weekly offering. If you are busy or plan to be away, please drop your offering envelope off at church, mail it in, or increase your giving the next Sunday you attend. This will keep your pledge current and will allow us to keep our mission and ministry growing. And remember that we have our Wednesday evening worship services at 6:15 PM available to you when you miss a Sunday. Watch your mailbox, semi annual giving reports will be mailed in July. MILESTONE GIVING If you have a milestone coming up in your life, (birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation, promotion...) consider celebrating this with your church family. Milestone giving can also be in memory of or honor of someone. Simply indicate Milestone Giving on your envelope. Please consider this above and beyond your regular pledged offerings and not part of it. THANK YOU! WALL OF CROSSES We have a new cross added to our cross wall! Gina Alba purchased a cross while traveling in Tortilla Flats, Arizona. Tortilla Flats is located in the back of Superstition Mountain and next door to Canyon Lake. It is an old mining town that is now heavily dependent upon tourists. She chose this cross because it made her think that this would have been something a minor might have put together in his downtime. An old rugged look that is special due to the time and care that was taken to put it together. Thank you again Gina for your gift to our wall. Also a special thank you to Ruth Bauer for all her work with maintaining our cross wall! 3

Watch for back to school sales starting in August. A collection box will be located in the front entryway of church. Items in need are: 70 sheet notebooks, boxes of 16 or 24 crayons, blunt scissors, rulers, 2 1/2 erasers, pencil sharpeners, No. 2 pencils with erasers, black or blue pens (no gel ink), also sturdy drawstring backpacks (14 x 17 ) to hold the school supplies. Outreach For Hope Family Bike Ride September 10 Pedal to push down poverty It s time for the Outreach of Hope Family Bike Ride to support the churches who do ministry in low income communities of the Greater Milwaukee Synod. The ride is being held at St. Bruno Parish in Dousman. Registration information and updates can be found at You don t have to ride to support the event. 6 Lutherdale Church Camp Lutherdale is a faith community, dedicated to building lives in Christ, through the wonder of God s creation, and the study of God s word. There is still time to register... Lutherdale provides a church camp experience for children of all ages. Mini camps, specialty camps, and weekly camps are all offered. NEW THIS YEAR...Choose the Week Choose the Adventure! Each week has it own unique and awesome theme! Special activities, crazy characters and a few surprises. A complete schedule is available on the Lutherdale website: along with registration forms. Or call for program information. Monies raised by the Evangelism Committee have provided funds for families who would like their child to have a church camp experience. A campership gift of $75 for mini-camps / $200 for 1 week camps to any child of Adoration attending. Fill out the form found with the brochures and place it in the Evangelism mailbox in the middle office. MEMO FROM MERU & MULALA This month as you pray for our brothers and sisters of Mulala and the Meru Diocese, I ask you for two special prayers. The first is for the Coffee Project. This year s crop is bagged and waiting to be shipped to the United States. As we pray for the shipment to arrive safely, the Coffee Project finds itself struggling with a cash flow problem. Although sales have been good, there is too much coffee in storage. Please remember to purchase Meru coffee this summer or make a donation to support this mission. Secondly, please keep the Meru Diocese in your prayers as they prepare for their general assembly in August and the election of a new bishop. Change is seldom easy and often it is something we tend to fear and become anxious about because we do not feel in control of life. The good news is that God is in control and has a plan for our life. If we trust in God and allow the change to grow us to become more like Jesus Christ in how we respond and act, then we are promised that all things will work together for good for those who love Him and keep His commandments. Ecclesiates3:1 states There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. May both the Greater Milwaukee Synod and the Meru Diocese trust in God s plan as the leadership changes hands and may both continue to uphold the partnership covenant. The same is true for our congregation and the partnership committee. At the annual meeting, we will recognize Sandy Ringwall s dedication and love as partnership chair for the past 17 years. During her tenure, her faith was unwavering and her prayers were constant as she shared news, opening our minds and hearts to the people of Mulala and the Diocese of Meru. Asante sana, Mama Mulala! Special thanks to Wendy Haas and Hilary Singleton for organizing the sales, and our faithful members who helped set up. Thank you to everyone who donated items, these sales could not have been possible without your generous gifts. Also thank you to those who helped to sell and clean up after the sales. Thank you to Kathy Albrecht for supplying and serving lunch during the sales. It was a wonderful congregational team effort. We raised $3, from our Rummage Sale, funds will be applied to our general operating fund and to Lutherdale campership gifts. $1, was raised from our Book Sale, funds will help support our partnership in the Meru Dioceses. 6 ETCETERA Our Mission Continues
