Use the blue Information/Prayer Card in the pew rack for prayer requests and information changes. Thank you. SERVICE OF HOPE AND HEALING Tonight from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Chapel If the holiday season brings sadness instead of joy to your life, please join us for a Service of Hope and Healing. Christ came into this world to give us strength and courage to find hope. Come and be with us. Let your heart be open to healing. WORSHIP SCHEDULE UPDATE We will offer two worship services on December 27, 2015, and January 3, 2016: finding grace, at 9:00 am in the Chapel and Heritage, at 10:30 am in the Sanctuary. Christian education for children, youth, and adults will not meet on December 27 or January 3, but will resume on January 10. Nursery care will be available each week, as usual. GUIDED TOURS OFFERED / DOCENTS NEEDED From December 22 through January 6, we will offer public viewing hours with guided tours of the Sacred Stories Art Exhibition. Updated hours: Tuesdays, 5:00-8:00 pm, and Wednesdays, 10:00 am 1:00 pm and 5:00-8:00 pm. Invite your friends and stop by for a guided tour! We need volunteer exhibit guides to cover these hours (a total of 27 hours). Shifts range from 1 to 3 hours. Can you help? Contact Phyliss Sunken in the church office, at Training will be provided. 2 Upcoming Events SACRED STORIES, IMAGES OF SIGNIFICANCE: VOICES IN A CONGREGATION A major art exhibition and installation at First Presbyterian Church, through January 10, 2016 Weekday viewing: 8:30 am 4:30 pm / Guided tours: Tuesdays, 5:00-8:00 pm, and Wednesdays, 10:00 am 1:00 pm and 5:00-8:00 pm We all have transformational moments, good or bad, by which we may feel stuck, whether in happiness or pain, and find ourselves either unable or unwilling to move forward. These moments these Sacred Stories, are captured in our memories, our stories, and our photographs, our Images of Significance. This exhibition uses Images of Significance from Voices within the First Pres body of faith images in their original and altered states as a way to articulate our Sacred Stories and give Voices to the way all people experience life. Taking place throughout the season of Advent through the Epiphany, Sacred Stories will change and evolve, reminding us to stay aware, to be in a state of waiting and anticipation, as those who stayed in wait for the coming of our Lord in the past; and...a challenge to always be in anticipation, to always be in Advent, explains Mario Alberico, creator and curator of the exhibition. As you walk through the exhibits, keep these questions in mind: What is time and memory? Do we remember anticipation? Can we be comfortable with paradoxes such as how suffering transforms us, how the physical ravages of time affect images of memory? Can we choose a life of both/and, instead of either/or? SMALL GROUPS UPDATE Contact: Tai Zimmerman, or taizimmerman@fpcah.org Breaking Bread Sign up now for 2016! Groups of eight people (couples, singles, or a combination) come together four times to share a meal. The groups are then shuffled for a new year of fellowship, food, and fun. Good News Partners would like to thank all the generous hearts at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights who donated more than 60 pies to our Thanksgiving Eve meal. We served about 130 people and many took a pie home. There were many left in the refrigerator for Jonquil residents to enjoy again the next day, Thanksgiving Day. Our partnership with First Pres AH is one we are truly grateful for! Blessings, Jan Hubbard, Executive Director, Development Good News Partners, Chicago, Illinois (goodnewspartners.org)
