2 Upcoming Events INSTALLATION SERVICE AND RECEPTION You are invited: Saturday, September 27 at 11:00 am Join together with the First Pres family of faith in a special service to install Rev. Tai Zimmerman Magette as associate pastor for adult education and executive administration of First Presbyterian Church. The service will be followed by a light reception in the Parlor. 3 Serving, Giving, and Growing SIGN UP TODAY TO HELP WITH PADS Your help is needed for this year s PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) season. The First Pres PADS site is open Tuesdays overnight from October through April. Please stop by the PADS sign-up table in the Narthex between services to sign up or learn more about opportunities for groups and individuals. Here s one example: A local caterer donated 25 pounds of sausage that was then used to prepare entrees and breakfasts. Several families donated frozen turkeys and hams that they were given over the holidays. Maybe you or your group would like to help this PADS season. For more examples, see page 4 of the September Chimes newsletter. A CONVERSATION ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH IN RWANDA: First Pres 2014 Anniversary Speaker Paul Rusesabagina of the Movie Hotel Rwanda NEXT Sunday, September 28 / 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary For 74 days in 1994, hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina shielded 1,268 people from the genocide that killed more than 800,000 in Rwanda. Under Rusesabagina s leadership, the hotel was the only public place where people where safe. Don t miss this incredible opportunity to hear about Paul s harrowing experience of surviving and protecting others from the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Tell your friends and neighbors! CLOTHING DRIVE FOR CHRISTOPHER HOUSE Throughout September Presbyterian Women is collecting gently used maternity clothes and clothing for children (infants age 10) served by Christopher House in Chicago. Clothing donations can be dropped into the collection bins located in the Narthex and the Parents Day Out hallway (third floor) in the Christian Education Wing. Thank you! UPDATE ON 4:11 The First Pres Wednesday after-school program (grades K-5) is undergoing some changes and will begin in January, for Term 2. Stay tuned for more information. MEMORIAL PRAYER GARDEN INTERMENT Effective September 30, 2014, the price for interment in the Memorial Prayer Garden will be $1,000. Those who wish to prepay for a future interment can do so between now and then for $500. Forms are available in the church office or at fpcah.org/forms. Contact a pastor to learn more about a service of committal in the Memorial Prayer Garden. WEBCASTING HELP NEEDED Do you attend the 11:00 am Heritage worship service?
