ADVENT SERMON SERIES Jesus As In this new sermon series created by Alex Lang, we will examine the many facets of who Jesus is by looking at Jesus life and ministry as he embodies and expands on the missions of four major players from the Old Testament of the Bible Moses, Joseph, Jonah, and David. Advent week 1 kicks off next Sunday, November 30, with Jesus as Moses, preached by Adrienne Trevathan, director of children s ministries. The rest of the series will be preached by Alex. 2 Upcoming Events THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT! 2015 Commitment Cards Still Welcome We have had a wonderful response by many members and friends of First Presbyterian Church who have made a financial commitment for A high percentage of givers so far have increased their commitments from the previous year. 3 Serving, Giving, and Growing BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TODAY Stop by the Parlor,10:30-11:00 am today to wish Merritt Jacoby a happy 90th birthday! SUPPORTING THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (DR) MISSION Special Offering Next Sunday For more than 30 years, First Pres has assisted with church construction and maintenance, water purification, health supplies and medical clinics, Christian and English education (including a scholarship program), and personal development and enrichment programs. This offering supports these efforts. Medicine Tree Stop by the DR Mission Medicine Tree in the Narthex Sundays through December 14 to donate toward the purchase of medicines and medical supplies in the Dominican Republic. This supports the local economy and ensures we are providing exactly what is needed when the team travels to the DR. You can purchase a leaf of varying value. Thank you! INTRODUCING THE NEW 4:11 Renewed, Revamped, Reenergized, and Returning January 7! Registration is now open for the NEW 4:11, the exciting after-school program offered at First Pres for children in grades K-5. Join us Wednesdays, 3:45-6:15 pm, January 7 April 29, 2015! No 4:11 on February 18 (Ash Wednesday), or March 25 (Spring Break). The new 4:11 features faith-formation activities, mission projects, homework help time, and engaging music! Registration is $75 for one child or $150 per family. Scholarships are available. Contact: Denise Poy, THANKSGIVING PIE DRIVE It s a First Pres tradition to provide pies for the Good News Partners Thanksgiving Dinner at the Jonquil Hotel. Please drop off homemade, frozen, or purchased pies in the Narthex on Tuesday, November 25 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Frozen pies should be baked and cooled and then put back into their original box for delivery. The pies will be delivered on Wednesday, November 26. Thank you! THANKSGIVING FOOD COLLECTION Throughout November, Presbyterian Women will collect nonperishable food items for families served by Christopher House and Firman Community Services in Chicago. Please place your donations in the labeled containers in the Narthex. CONCERT SERIES EVENT Noon Recital On December 3, from 12:10 to 12:45 pm in the Sanctuary, enjoy an engaging performance by Chuck Beech on piano and Chris Urban on organ, as they team up to delight and entertain the audience. This recital will also be webcast for live or later viewing, at fpcah.org/webcast.

Please consider donating new or gently used coats and other gear (boots, snowpants, scarves, hats, and mittens) to the children in Sisseton, South Dakota.
