3 Dear Folks: Peace. The generosity of our All Souls community is unbounded and impressive. Contributions for the family who suffered the fire was outstanding, with near $1000 in cash and gift cards and several hundred of dollars more in donated items. Well done. In the same spirit, your generosity for the victims of hurricane Harvey neared $3000. May God Bless the lot of you. And may your prayers for the flooded of Texas and the local family who lost their home remain as generous as they have been. Neither the family nor the Texans are out of the woods yet. Our charity will likely be summoned again soon as efforts to aid the people of Florida take hold after their weather trials. On another matter, some in the parish have asked for some Continuing Ed opportunities. A brief topical summary of their interests is as follows: rules, regulations, customs, myths about Catholicism, prayer, Islam, comparative religions, grace, spirituality, and salvation and damnation. Of these, the largest interest was on the topic of prayer, so I thought I would start with this. Again the format will be a minute talk with questions to follow. The total time commitment will be around 40 minutes. Each talk will stand-alone. The first topic will be The Purpose of Prayer: a Brief History. I hope to have the first date the week before Thanksgiving. I could use some feedback on day and time, so bend my ear before or after the masses in September. Pax Christi Fr. Pope Francis has called young people to beautiful Panama City, Panama for the 15th International Celebration of World Youth Day in January The Office of Young Adult Ministry will be taking young adults ages for 8 days and 8 nights to Panama for this incredible event featuring cultural festivities, daily catechesis, a day trip to the rainforest of Soberania National Park, and a pilgrimage walk to an evening prayer vigil and morning Mass with Pope Francis. We will arrive in Panama on Sunday, January 20th and return to the US on Monday, January 28th.
