Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... In John 1, Andrew meets Jesus and immediately goes and finds his brother, Simon Peter, and brings him to Jesus. Philip also meets Jesus and immediately tells Nathaniel, We have found the one... Come and see. In John 4 the Samaritan woman meets Jesus at the well, leaves her jar, and goes into town to tell people, I have found Him! Over and over I have seen this same reaction; people find Jesus and they want to tell others about Him. When we discover firsthand that He is real, we want other people to know how wonderful He is. There are many good things we can do for people, but nothing compares to introducing them to Jesus, who holds the key to the purpose of their life now and for eternity. It always feels good to help people, but when you get to help change someone s life for eternity by helping them find Jesus, it is a great feeling! It is then we know that our life has meaning and purpose. This is one of the great privileges and responsibilities in life. Jesus calls us to this. Go into all the world and preach the gospel... (Mark 16:15).... you will be my witnesses... (Acts 1:8). And he has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ s ambassadors, as though Christ were making his appeal through us (II Corinthians 5:19-20). If we are followers of Christ, this is our responsibility. In fact, if we have no desire to bring others to Christ, we need to make sure we really have given our life to Him. His disciples bear fruit (John 15:8), which means we reproduce other Christians! This is our great privilege and responsibility. At Harvest we are very careful to help you do that by making our worship services very friendly, comfortable, warm, understandable and welcoming. We address things that matter to those you invite. We welcome God as we worship, and guests can experience His presence. Harvest has grown because we all keep finding people to bring. When people come, they see Jesus, and many choose to follow Him, too. On April 8 we will celebrate Easter. Last Easter we had 3,113 people come to our services, which is the largest number we have had on any one day. We know that people are more likely to go to church on Easter than on any other day of the year, and that makes it one of our best opportunities to introduce people to Christ. Who can you bring to Jesus? Who can you tell? If no one is coming to your mind, ask the Lord to show you who, and then invite them. Offer to sit with them or even pick them up. Be ready to talk with them about the service and about what Jesus has done in you. And pray! Pray that God will speak to them and to the hundreds who will be here who do not know Him. He s calling you!

3 ADVANCING HIS KINGDOM Answer the Call to Ministry Easter is our largest outreach of the year. You have heard it said that more people attend church on Easter than any other service. It s still true; some churches are sharing that Christmas Eve is becoming a fast second. Nevertheless, we have got to see the need and respond. If you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone would come to Christ because you stepped up to volunteer at an Easter service, you would volunteer. I can guarantee that will be the case. Every year people give their lives to Christ during our Easter services and when you step up to serve you are part of the team that works together to help facilitate that decision. I understand that the Holy Spirit works in people s hearts to draw them to Christ, but the enemy is working to use any distraction to keep them from making that decision. What if there is no one in the parking lot to help them park? No one in the lobby or outside greeting and welcoming newcomers and giving them directions? Not enough volunteers in the children s ministry for their kids to feel loved and cared for? What if there aren t enough refreshment team volunteers to help them enjoy the fellowship and feel like they have come to a warm friendly place? And there are many other teams that will be working together to make Easter a success. Keith Frith Would you like to know how to help this Easter? There are two ways: 1. Go online to www. HarvestDothan.com and under the events tab, click on upcoming events, and there is a place to sign up right there; or 2. You can call the church office at x231, and let them know in which service you would like to serve and on what team. We have an organizational meeting on Sunday, April 1 at 5:30 in the Office Building to go over the ministry teams plans and give brief instructions especially needed for Easter.
