Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... I recently had the privilege of listening to Dr. Timothy Tennent, President of Asbury Seminary, talk about the things he loves about Wesleyan theology (John Wesley led the great revivals in Britain in the 1700 s that became known as the Methodist Movement ). Dr Tenant talked about the wonderful balance of evangelism, discipleship, and mission. Some Christians put all their focus on the Doorway, which is how people get into the Kingdom (Jesus is the Door). Or we can put most of our focus on knowing God and spiritual growth but become turned in, basically ignoring the call to reach the world. It is possible to focus on our own salvation and discipleship and forget that we are called to give and that we have a mission! I think God has blessed Harvest with a good balance. We strongly emphasize all of these the vital steps of coming to accept Christ as Lord, the importance of growing in faith, and the calling to go out and tell others about Him. So much growth has taken place over the past couple of months. Many people have connected to Harvest for the first time. Many have begun a real relationship with God. Our Ministry Fair was helpful in getting more people connected and involved in their mission. Many of us made a personal Plan for Spiritual Growth, our Fall Renewal Conference was rich with powerful truths, new discipleship and small groups have begun, and the current sermon series on Victorious Thinking is challenging us to continue to focus on knowing God and be transformed as we follow Him. Over the next three weeks we have two tremendous, fun opportunities to reach out. The goal for both of these events is to introduce people to Harvest and therefore to Christ. HarvestFest on October 28 will bring more people who don t go to church onto our property than any event this year (other than Easter). Invite your friends, family, and co-workers; volunteer to help; or just be here to greet new people who will come and to enjoy the fellowship with your Harvest family. November 2-11 Harvest will be hosting a booth for the first time at the Peanut Festival, which is the most attended event in our region. Our goal is to get people who don t go to church to consider getting in one, as well as telling them about Harvest and giving them a glimpse of what Harvest is like. In addition to these churchwide events, continue to look for opportunities to share your faith and God s love with people around you in your daily life. God blesses and gives to us so we can share and give to others, and the flow continues through us when we focus on being vessels of His presence and life!

It is not an art class. The guild is a group of people with like minds and God-given talents to be used by Him.

The Lord is moving mightily in our groups. If you are not currently in a group, we would like for you to plan to join one. Call x232 if you are interesting in joining any of the following groups. Open Small Group: The Secret Place - Wednesdays at in the Worship Center. Join us for this new study led by Tony Payne called The Secret Place: the pursuit of intimacy with God. Everyone is invited! Mixed Discipleship I - Sundays at in room A145, led by Joe Epperson. Join this D1 class as they take the first step in learning what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Keith Frith Christian Artist Guild - Thursdays at in the Harvest café. The guild is for artists who are currently practicing or who have practiced an art form in the past (such as paint, sculpture, photography, pencil, graphic design, mixed media, etc.). It is not an art class. The guild is a group of people with like minds and God-given talents to be used by Him. We will be gathering weekly for a group study addressing issues commonly faced by artists. We will also spend some time each week sharing our work. You re Not Alone Group - Calling all ladies who have a child with special needs. Come join this Bible study support group led by Lisa Blume on Wednesdays at. Childcare is available. Small Group Pastor ADVANCING HIS KINGDOM Ministry Opportunities Helping Hands Ministry We need people of various skill levels. This team provides labor and supplies to those in our church who are on a fixed or low income or who are disabled and need help with house repairs. Some of the types of jobs we help with include installing squirrel wire, replacing windows, fixing plumbing, or repairing dry wall. Refreshment Clean-up Team Members of this team wash all the used snack trays, water/juice pitchers, and coffee urns. Refreshment Serving Team This team serves the refreshments to the congregation during the break of the church service once a month. Usher Team This team serves once a month before each Sunday morning service of your choice at 8:30 or 10:30am. Ushers cheerfully help guests and all attendees find a seat in the Worship Center and help manage the Worship Center. Jeff Burnett Ministry Teams If you would like to serve on any of these teams, please write the team name on the back of your communication card on Sunday or call Heather at x231 during the week. National Peanut Festival Outreach - We will have a Harvest booth this year at the Peanut Festival (November 2-11). Please be praying that God would use this opportunity to minister through us to those in our community.
