Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... I want to thank all of you who made our Fall Conference possible by setting aside time to seek God and by serving on a ministry team for the services. I cannot overstate how crucial it is for Harvest, and for you, that you continue to seek Him with true hunger. For me, this was one of our best conferences ever. The messages were from God, the worship was amazing, the prayer ministry was powerful and effective, and the fellowship together was sweet. I still feel like I am abiding in God s glory! From the view on the mountaintop, it is easy to recognize the deception of the world. It is a great perspective for the series we began Sunday about the battle in our minds. As I said Sunday, there are four sources for our thoughts: God, Satan, self, and the world. When a thought comes into our mind, we can accept it or reject it. This takes awareness and some discipline. II Corinthians 10:3-5 tells us to take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ. God always speaks the truth and always brings life. Our enemy speaks lies and tries to destroy us through deception. We will either take every thought captive, or be held captive by deceptive thinking. If we continually think negative thoughts, we will become a negative person. Fearful thoughts will make us a fearful person. Thoughts of discontent can make us discontented. Critical thoughts produce critical people; dark thoughts produce dark and sinful people. But, godly thoughts produce godliness; righteous thoughts produce righteous people. Pure, faith-filled, victorious thinking makes us pure, faith-filled and victorious. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he! Thoughts produce actions, actions produce habits, habits produce character, and our character determines our destiny. In fact, the habits of how we think and what we choose determine our character. We are all becoming either more of or less than the person God plans for us to be, according to our thinking. A major key to abundant, victorious life is the rejection of destructive, untrue thoughts, and the receiving of and standing on truth. Then we can be transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2) and the truth will set us free (John 8:32) as we think with the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:16). Over the next few Sundays we will focus on growth through godly thinking. Throughout this week, think about what you are thinking about. Ask God to show you which thoughts to reject and which to accept. Make your thoughts obedient to Christ as you feed your mind truth. And enjoy the peace, the joy, and the victory that comes as you dwell in Him.

Here is the list of classes offered: SM 101: Covers the basics of following Jesus. If you are a new believer, this class is for you. This class will be taught by David Beaty. If you have been following Christ for awhile, feel free to step into SMC 201. SM 201: Focuses on four habits of successful Christians and looks at other means of spiritual growth. This class will be taught by Pastor Roy Rogers. SM 301: This class is about being filled with the Holy Spirit and learning to live life under His Lordship, Anointing, and Power. We learn to live a victorious life as the character of Jesus becomes the character of our lives. This class will be taught by Pastor Ralph Sigler. SM 401: This class will help you deepen your walk with Christ by identifying your spiritual gifts and showing you ways to use them. It will be taught by Pastor Keith Frith. Page 2

If your house is open for this group to meet or if you would like to join, please call the church office. Open Small Group - On Wednesday, October 17, at 6:30pm in the Worship Center, Tony Payne will be beginning a series called The Secret Place: the pursuit of intimacy with God. Everyone is invited to join us! Ladies Discipleship I - Wednesdays at 6:30pm; Mixed Discipleship I - Sundays at 6:30pm. These Discipleship groups will be starting soon. ADVANCING HIS KINGDOM Ministry Opportunities Refreshment Clean-up Team Members of this team wash all the used snack trays, water/juice pitchers, and coffee urns. Refreshment Serving Team This team serves the refreshments to the congregation during the break of the church service once a month. Doorkeepers This team serves before each Sunday morning service at 8:30 or 10:30am. Doorkeepers welcome people as they enter Harvest Church for Sunday morning services. They also help with directing people in finding areas of the church and refer visitors to the information table. Usher Team This team serves once a month before each Sunday morning service of your choice at 8:30 or 10:30am. Ushers cheerfully help guests and all attendees find a seat in the Worship Center and help manage the Worship Center. Keith Frith If you would like to serve on any of these teams, please write the team name on the back of your communication card on Sunday or call Heather at x231 during the week. Food Bank Donations Harvest donated a total of 380 pounds of food for the Wiregrass Food Bank. Thank you to all who donated to support this cause! Taylor is a Christian entertainer who currently works extensively aboard the Disney Cruise Line Ships and has performed with such artists as Bill Gaither on his Homecoming Concert Tour. Taylor Mason s quick wit, flawless delivery, and polished material make him a hit with audiences of all ages. Kids see Bible lessons come to life through dynamic dramas, enjoy exciting worship music, and build relationships in small groups. XtremeKidz Starlight Station (K-4th grade) - Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm in room B-108! Welcome aboard Starlight Station! The Starlight Station staff will help you learn many ways to be a servant leader. Daily briefings will walk you through the life of Joseph. Permission slips are available for download at SITE56 - Wednesdays, 6:30-8pm, for Preteens (rising 5th/6th graders). S56 is a dynamic ministry designed to meet the special spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of 5th and 6th graders. SITE56 ers build relationships as they discover Biblical principles to help them with the unique issues that preteens encounter. We ve had a great time in the nursery/preschool learning how Jesus takes care of us. During the month of October we will be learning about how Jesus wants us to care for others. It s easy to care for the people we like, but Jesus wants us to care for even those we don t like. What a difference these little ones can make if they learn this concept now as children, and then as adults they can change the world for Jesus. Dear Youth Parent(s), As your son or daughter has probably told you by now, I announced to the youth a few weeks ago that our youth ministry is beginning a transition during which I am going to be phasing out of the Youth Ministry and Josh Moore will become the new Youth Pastor. Josh has worked extensively with our youth through his current position here at Harvest, and he has already demonstrated that he will do a fantastic job as a Youth Pastor. I will be staying on staff here at Harvest as the Pastor of Ministry Teams, and I look forward to continuing to worship with and minister to your family. We are currently in the midst of a month long transition process that will culminate on our Fall Retreat (October 12-14), at which point I will officially hand over the Youth Pastor position to Josh. We believe this upcoming retreat will be very significant in the lives of our young people, and a very strategic retreat for our youth ministry. We are asking that all of the youth please make it a priority to be part of this retreat. Retreat deposits are now actually a little past due, but if your student has not yet signed up we will try to accommodate anyone who would like to participate.
