1 F I R S T E D I T I O N June 2014 First United Methodist Church of Wabash, Indiana Mission Statement To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Vision Statement...To provide a loving fellowship that brings about spiritual transformation through worship, prayer, study and action in order to know Christ and to make Him known. THE PASTOR S PAGE 110 N. Cass Street, Wabash, IN I think, looking outside, that spring might actually be finally deciding to hold on. Winter is past. I hope. I celebrate the new season in our world and a new season in this church. In the last couple weeks, I have had several one-on-one conversations about the hope and future of this congregation and I am encouraged. I am encouraged by those who have a vision for God s direction. I love the fact that we are coming alive to God s Word. I love the fact that people are hearing things in worship and Monday or Tuesday I will get a note saying, I have been thinking about what you said and I want to know. I am even more encouraged by those who have disagreed and are remaining in the conversation, challenging me to be true to the gospel. The reason I am most encouraged by this is that WE are remaining in conversation. People are talking. We are together, walking together even in the areas where there is discomfort. I am proud of you, church. God is doing some great things in you. I am thankful that you are helping me be a better pastor for you here in Wabash. There is no sin in disagreement. If we all agreed, we would never get anything done and the world s needs would not be met. God desires that we work together, work through our stuff, and take the fertile ground of our faith formed through such work to bear upon the world in order that fruit might come forth even disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Shalom, Pastor Kurt Senior Pastor - Rev. Kurt Freeman Pastor of Visitation - Rev. John Cook office.wabfirstumc@cinergymetro.net Phone: (260) FAX: (260)
