2 Beloved, The New York Times, Daily News and Amsterdam News were all powerhouses in the newspaper industry at one time. It was assumed that their primary function was to spread the news of the day to as many subscribers as could be reached. Each was heralded as being a vehicle for a reliable, greater witness to what was happening in the world. Ironically, this was only part of the story. Their other means of survival was to be marketing tools for companies through print advertising. In today s times, the second function has fallen away, leaving them less important. The fact is, no form of advertising, print or otherwise, comes close to the success of word of mouth marketing. Marketers know the best way to get somebody to try a product is to have people talking about it to each other. Once again, the secular world understands an essential biblical principal, the power of personal witnessing. Such examples as the Samarian women in John 4:1-42, Thomas in John 20:24-29 and the Psalmist in Psalm 40:5-10 are testimonies to our ability to be greater witnesses to God s glory. I hope we never become like those in Galatians 3 and forget the witness of Christ as portrayed to us. Rather, I encourage each of us, as disciples to let the power of our light so shine that all we encounter not only want to try the experience we are relaying, but also to accept the all-powerful Savior we have. Next time, skip sharing gossip and share your witness. Now, that is the real good news to spread in the world. With a Shepherd s Love, Pastor Lacey
3 THE ORDER OF WORSHIP 7:45 A.M. & 10:45 A.M. PRAISE & WORSHIP **THE CALL TO WORSHIP As people of faith, we have gathered to worship the Lord. As people of faith, we are witnesses of the Lord s power. The Lord encourages you to share the story of faith and life, with the world around you. We will share our greater witness in word and deed. Blessed be the name of the Lord. **THE EVOCATION (In Unison) Merciful God, we pray that You use us as greater witnesses of your glory. As we go about being living witnesses, we promise to testify to God's love and power in the world. We ask that You be with us, sharing the laughter, the hope, the fears and the tears. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. **THE HYMN OF PRAISE Jesus Saves! **MORNING SCRIPTURE Psalm 40:5-10 **CHORAL CALL TO PRAYER & RESPONSE...You Are Great/Better Is One Day **MORNING PRAYER *** SELECTION Bethany Choir **RECOGNITION OF VISITORS (Fellowship Time) *** SERMONIC SELECTION..... 4 SERMON SERIES ~ GREATER ALL PRAISE TO GOD, THE FATHER OF OUR LORD, JESUS CHRIST. IT IS BY HIS GREAT MERCY THAT WE HAVE BEEN BORN AGAIN, BECAUSE GOD RAISED JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD. NOW WE LIVE WITH GREAT EXPECTATION, 1 PETER 1:3 NLT SOMEONE ONCE SAID, NO EXPECTATION, NO DISAPPOINTMENT. CLEARLY, THIS PERSON NEVER LIVED BY FAITH. THIS SERMON SERIES ENCOURAGES THE BELIEVER TO WALK IN THE EXPECTATIONS OF GOD, BELIEVING THAT GOD IS FAITHFUL. WHAT GOD SAID, GOD WILL DO!! 11/5 Greater Praise Deuteronomy 10: /12 Greater Dreams Genesis 37: /26 Greater Harvest Matthew 9:35-38 MORNING SCRIPTURE Psalm 40:5-10 (NIV) 5 Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire but my ears you have opened burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. 7 Then I said, Here I am, I have come it is written about me in the scroll. 8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart. 9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and Your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly. SERMONIC SCRIPTURE JOHN 4:39-42 (NIV) 39Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman s testimony, He told me everything I ever did. 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers. 42 They said to the woman, We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world. CHORAL CALL TO PRAYER & RESPONSE YOU ARE GREAT You deserve the glory and the honor, I lift my hands in worship and I bless Your Holy name. You are great, You do miracles, So great, there is no one else like You, there is no one else like You. BETTER IS ONE DAY Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts, than thousands elsewhere Better is one day (3x) than thousands elsewhere Thousands elsewhere
