2 Beloved Summertime is here once again! For those of us who live where we actually experience the four seasons with all of various changes in temperature and precipitation, summer is quite a welcome relief as the warmth of God s creation surrounds us. I just wanted to take a few moments to encourage you to continue to be faithful in your giving during the summer months. While vacations are enjoyed by so many of our church family, and rightfully so I might add, the ministries of the church continue to move forward as lives are changed, marriages healed, and God is glorified through it all. Stewardship of the resources God places in our hands extends so much further than even finances, as prayers are also needed for our various ministries, including the general overall health of our church body. If you are one of those who will be vacationing this year, would you be sure to lift us up in prayer at various times during your break? You can also experience worship online at So, I trust you will receive this pen as more of an encouragement to continue to just do the right things, and you will find God s presence in so many ways as you continue to steward God s blessings in your life. I also trust I will see you here at Bethany on a regular basis during the summer if you aren t away. With a Shepherd s Love, Pastor Lacey

3 **THE CALL TO WORSHIP SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, :45 A.M. & 10:45 A.M. PRAISE & WORSHIP "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." We do so much coming and going that we have no leisure even to eat. "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." We give and give and give until nothing is left of us to give. "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." Blessed be the name of the Lord! **THE EVOCATION (In Unison) Lord, you have made this day for us, called upon us to get off the train, pull out of the rat race, cease to measure our lives by product and production, and simply to be, to become, to bide. Open your gates to us. Grant us more than rest - walk with us toward joy. In Christ name we pray, Amen. **THE HYMN OF PRAISE Blessed Assurance **MORNING SCRIPTURE Matthew 11:25-30 **CHORAL CALL TO PRAYER.. 4 SUNDAY ~ AUGUST 30 ~ 2015 MORNING SCRIPTURE ~ MATTHEW 11:25-30 (NIV) 25 At that time Jesus said, I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. 27 All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. PROOF OF THE SPIRIT ~ SERMON SERIES ~ GALATIANS 5: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Without God s Spirit we lack the power and identity of being children of God. Is there enough evidence to convict you of having the Spirit of God? This sermon series explores the fruit that a relationship with God produces and thereby encourages the believer to be filled with the Spirit.
