Not surprisingly, my Appalachian mountain heritage is rooted in the Celtic world, primarily Scotland and Ireland, where I am drawn and connected in a way I cannot explain - just in my DNA! In the same way, as Christians we are drawn and connected to God and to all of His creation - it s in our DNA! In Celtic Spirituality, all creation is good, because God looked upon it and pronounced it very good. The Celtic way of Christianity has made abundant contributions to art, literature, and theology, with expressive symbolism and imagery, a unique understanding of human nature, and its own monastic traditions. I was listening to the news, and felt a great sense of increasing weight on my heart with the conflict, the hatefulness, and the rancor being expressed on every network. That still, small voice whispered the words from Revelation 1:8, which became our scripture for the weekend: I am the Alpha and Omega, said the Lord, who is, and who was, and is to come - the Almighty. God was there at the beginning, and He will be there at the end. It really is significant to note that God IS - He IS in the present first; right now, God is present with us in ALL circumstances and situations. As hard as it is for us to sometimes believe He cares about us and loves us, He has even the small stuff! He WAS there at the beginning, and has been there through ALL of the ages of not only earthly time, but time eternal. Then, in the ultimate message of HOPE - He is coming to us! Physically, tangibly, up front, close and personal, to gather us to himself and to set up His kingdom on earth. No politician, world leader, boss, company, radical group, or evil entity can separate us from this promise or the love that is the root and the very core of this promise!!! All of us know or are familiar with the significance of three in the Bible. While I was pondering this in relation to Alpha and Omega, Who is, Who was, and Who is to come the significance of the Christian triquetra came to my mind as the symbol for our banner. In Christianity it represents the interrelationship and oneness of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in a Celtic knot with an interminable beginning and end. The Celtic knot is intertwined with a circle, which represents eternity - for God, the Father; Jesus the Son; and the Holy Spirit, the power among us. They are the three in one for all eternity. Consequently, Who Is, who was, and who is to come are also three. Our time on the Pilgrimage weekend is 3 days. Reflecting on my vision for the NCPP #159 weekend, it became clear to me that we should WORSHIP our God and demonstrate as a team our TRUST in Him, Who IS (present tense thing!). Trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something - and in this situation - our triune God. I want us to also share a message of UNWAVERING HOPE based upon His work in the past, and the promises of the future left to us in scripture. WE are the church, and we play a major role in God s IS TO COME! Romans 15:13 says, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. So, even as we have HOPE, God has provided for us already. This scripture in Romans says, God IS (that present tense thing!) hope, and He will fill us with joy and peace (the opposite of despair and conflict) as WE TRUST in Him (something WE must do). And as we trust we will overflow with HOPE by the power of the Spirit (not even our own doing!). God is the author of Hope; the Holy Spirit will ensure that we overflow with Hope; Jesus is our focus - our Ideal. All we have to do is trust! God Loves You and So Do I! Martha

If you would like to serve on a team, download the team application and medical form from the NCPP website Fill it out and send it to the rector of the weekend. On the form you can indicate your preference for your role on the team. However, depending on the needs of the team, preferences may not always be accommodated. It is not always possible for rectors to find a spot for everyone who wishes to serve on a weekend, but they are particularly interested in having new members of the 4th Day Community serve on teams. Remember you may also serve by sponsoring guests, being part of the prayer banner, providing meals for team meetings, supplying Palanca for guests, participating in serenade, or helping with set-up and cleanup of camp. Please use this newsletter as your trigger to verify that YOUR contact information is still current in the online directory! Why? So your brothers, sisters, and future Rectors can contact you! Also, make sure your reunion sisters and brothers received their newsletter, if not ask them to update their address! Registrar Trivia: Question: What three items comprise an acceptable guest application? Answer: A complete guest Application form (with Pastor Signature), a complete sponsor application form, and a deposit complete means every blank is filled in! Question: What is required for the NCPP movement to thrive? Answer: Guests Question: You are thinking of sponsoring a guest what should you do first? Answer: Pray, pray, PRAY then read & meet the Guidelines for a Pilgrimage Sponsor. Question: How do you know when the next weekend is and who is the Rector? Answer: Go to click on weekend Information and Weekend Dates. Question: Should you share with your potential guests all they should expect on a weekend? Answer: No, you should share generalities but do not reveal any special surprises. Question: Is it alright to bring my guest and a completed application to surprise the team? Answer: No, neither the Registrar nor the team like surprises!!!! You should provide the complete application to the Registrar by the guest deadline, usually 2 weeks before the weekend to allow yourself adequate time to collect special palanca. Question: Can I use an application I found in a team manual from 5 years ago and where can I find the Registrar s address? Answer: No, you should always print a NEW application form from the website (under Weekend Information and Forms ) to make sure you are meeting the latest requirements. The current Registrar s address for each conference is on the bottom of the Sponsor s application. Question: What should I say if my guest says they cannot afford the weekend? Answer: First ask your guest how much they could pay then speak to the Registrar about financial assistance. Question: Is it ok to print a copy of the outlines for my guest to get ready for the weekend? Answer: Please print only the NCPP Brochure from the website (under 4 th Day Community. Remember Pilgrimage will provide everything else they need for the weekend. Question: Who is responsible for obtaining guest palanca? Answer: You are as the sponsor. You may deliver it discretely to a team member at Send-Off, send it to camp with a team member, or deliver it to the baskets when you go for dinner prior to the Serenade.

Please contact David Cloninger at dwcncpp@gmail.com or Help is welcome anytime 11am-6pm 1. Pack up Chapel after the morning service on Sunday. Only leave out what is needed for Closura. 2. After lunch, pack up the kitchen. 3. After the outside team has removed guest luggage from the cabins, pick up toiletries and remove trash. Please check for trash in the team cabins. 4. After palanca bags are given to the guests, pack up the Palanca Room. 5. After rollos are finished, the entire team will help break down the Rollo Room. 6. After guests have the card dedication, the Knees Palanca Directions to Camp Harrison Room can be packed up. 7. After Closura, the remainder of the Chapel will be packed up and chairs will be put in the closet. 8. Pack up remainder of Rollo Room items. Members of the 4th Day Community wishing to stay after Serenade and help pack up on Sunday are welcome. Please remember to bring your bedding and a towel.
