1 March 2016 NC Presbyterian Pilgrimage Newsletter A Letter from the Rector My Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is hard to believe that the time for NCPP # 138 is nearly here! This has been the most wonder-filled journey of my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Eastern Council for putting its faith and trust in me as the rector for #138. I attended NCPP # 37 in March of 2000 and have been involved in the Pilgrimage movement ever since. I have served on many teams, created 16 weekend logos, and gone to numerous serenades across the state. With every experience, God and others were mentoring me along the way so that I could accept the calling of rector. I am incredibly humbled and beyond blessed. I also would like to thank the 4 th Day Community for their continued prayers and support as I embarked on this journey over a year ago and for those who are still praying now and as we go through the weekend. My verse is from 2 Corinthians 2:15: We are to be the sweet fragrance of Christ to God. Just as we have Christ light, we have Christ s sweet aroma when we walk into a room. They will know we are Christians by our love, light, and fragrance. No words are necessary. God has arranged the most fragrant flowers in His bouquet for this weekend. The amazing team of # 138 has meshed so quickly even though we had only two meetings due to inclement weather. All who are serving are committed and intentional about their positions and their fellow chas. We are One Body in Christ. We have a blend of longevity of years in experience and the freshness of new energy from recent pilgrims. The mixture is invigorating and truly a sweet fragrance of Christ! I pray that you, the 4 th Day, will become a part of the weekend by signing up for the Prayer Banner and joining us for Send-Off, Serenade, and the Closing Ceremony. Please also mark your calendars for April 9, 2016 at 5:30 pm at Highland Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, for Ultreya, as we gather to welcome our newest group of Pilgrims into the 4th Day Family! Serenade is Saturday night at 5:30 pm. We will meet in the gym past the playground on the left from camp. We will eat; then practice with the band, serenade the guests and team, then leave for home. Remember to wear your crosses and name tags. Please remember that serenade is not the time for hugging, talking to, touching or showing special attention to individual guests or team. 5 A Message from Our Council Moderator Service: a Sweet Fragrance Wow, I am flying high after our last team meeting and am excited to serve on this weekend. It is difficult not to anticipate as I haven t been on a team in a while and am ready to be back at Dixie. I have been serving for Christ in many other ways, sometimes through my church, sometimes in my community, sometimes in foreign lands, and sometimes in the background for Pilgrimage. How are you serving Christ? I confidently know your resume abundantly reflects your many activities. Each and every way you love your neighbor and share his love is known by the Father and is appreciated when his grace is displayed. I would like to offer more opportunities for service to fill in those gaps in your schedules (hahaha). You may have heard that over 500 people assist us with each weekend. Something awesome must be happening that God would call so many to service. We want more of the 4 th Day to participate, so consider some of these sweet fragrances. Sponsoring: We need guests who are faithful Christians seeking more, are at the right point in their lives for understanding the depth of God s Grace, are prepared for the uncomfortableness of some of the activities, and are called by God. Palanca: Gifts are one of the 5 Love Languages and are highly effective on the weekend by filling up every moment and possible way to show love. These little gifts also kindle wonderful memories long after a weekend. Prayer Banner: We all know this one. Prayer is the most essential part of a weekend. We have lots of time slots available. Team Meetings: Logistics, meals, and cleanup provided by the 4 th Day allow the team to focus on their roles. Upkeep of Supplies: We have lots of stuff that requires storage, mending, replacement, and transport. We gotta have stuff. Camp Setup: There are several wonderful 4 th Day who show up, like elves, on Wednesday night and Thursday to help get our stuff setup. Send-off: This job seems so small, but means so much. Driving a guest to camp, feeding them, and filling the room with friendly faces starts us off with excitement and calms many anxieties. Serenade: When we fill the dining room with the joyful songs of praise, I glimpse heaven. The guests see many loving smiling faces. Clausura: The graduating ceremony of Pilgrimage. And the welcoming into 4 th day. Camp Breakdown: The weekend is almost over, the guests are leaving, and the team is exhausted. Please help us pack up in an organized method. Ultreya: A party to celebrate new Pilgrims and to visit with old friends. Come on out and share a hug. Reunion Groups: This is where we help each other in daily life through study, action, accountability, listening, sharing and loving. The longevity of our organization depends on these communities. Please invite new Pilgrims into existing or new groups. There are many other ways to serve and every act is gratefully accepted. Ask any of your Conference Council Leaders for suggestions. Wouldn t it be cool to say we have over a thousand people assisting and serving each weekend? Or even more. Pray and pray more for success in sharing God s love. FROM POINTS NORTH: I-95 S to Hwy 87 S (Exit 46) Take Hwy 87 S towards Elizabethtown for miles Go approximately 1 mile past the Dupont Plant Entrance Turn right onto Bladen Union Church Road (the next paved right) Camp Dixie will be on your left FROM POINTS SOUTH: I-95 N to Hwy 20 E (St. Pauls Exit) Continue through St. Pauls, past the landfill and Rocco Farms Plant Cross a little bridge at Gallberry Swamp and then cross the county line Take the next left onto Pages Lake Road Continue for approximately 2 miles Camp Dixie will be on the right
