1 Grace Notes MONTHLY NEWSLETTER GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH JULY 2018 Pastor s Notes Mark Elkins Vacation Bible School is here!!! The set construction and the drama teams have already begun and the various teachers, assistants, and kitchen volunteers are finalizing their plans. In just a matter of days, we will have the privilege of sharing the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ with the children of our community. But, even with all the planning, meetings, and preparations, we cannot forget the most important part of anything we do for the glory of God: Prayer!!! Every day, it is important that we dedicate ourselves to praying and seeking God s will through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But this is especially true during our VBS, so I have put together a prayer calendar below that I hope will help focus our efforts and ensure our success: Sunday (July 8 th )...Pray for the energy & safety of everyone helping to setup for VBS. Monday (July 9 th ) Pray for the moms, dads, grannies, grandpas, memaws and pepaws, who are trying to decide whether to bring their children to our VBS. Tuesday (July 10 th ) Pray for travel mercies for all the parents and kids that will be coming to Grace to sign-up for the first night of VBS. Wednesday (July 11 th ) Pray for all the teachers and assistants in each of the age groups as they journey from Eternity Past to Eternity Future with the Alpha & the Omega, Jesus Christ our Lord. Thursday (July 12 th ) Pray for the snack, games, and craft teams, as they teach the children that following Jesus is fun. Friday (July 13 th ) Pray that all of the volunteers will have the energy to finish strong. Saturday (July 14 th ) Pray for all the volunteers who will be setting up for and serving at our Family Fun Day. Sunday (July 15 th ) Pray for the children and parents, who have been touched by the love and Gospel of Jesus, that they will join us to worship Him and praise His holy name. 2 VBS Time Lab Tuesday, July 10 th -Friday July 13 th 5:45pm-8:30pm VBS/Community Family Fun Day Saturday, July 14 th 10am-2pm Get ready to set your watches, because this Summer we are traveling through time for VBS: Time Lab, at Grace Baptist Church! From Tues, July 10th - Fri, July 13th, kids can enjoy fun Bible lessons, crafts, snacks, songs, outdoor games, and a comedy show every evening! Ages Then join us on Saturday, July 14th for our Community Family Fun Day to finish off our VBS week! This is open to the whole community, whether or not your child was in VBS. It s just a fun day with songs, a comedy show, games, a bounce house, face painting, dunking booth, crafts, emergency vehicles, balloons, hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, sno-cones, candy, and more! 3 Announcements Our annual 4 th of July Church Picnic at the Easts House is next week, and you do not want to miss it! It will be a fun evening of fellowship, food, games, swimming, horseback-riding, fishing, and an amazing fireworks show after dark! Please, bring a side-dish and/or dessert to share, lawn chairs for your family, and modest swimwear. It all begins at 3pm. (If anyone can help with clean up on the following day, it would be greatly appreciated!) The Logos (The Word) adult Sunday school class is welcoming all adults who may not have a Sunday school class. Come join us weekly at 9:45am, as we embark on a new study The Footsteps of the Messiah. This study is about the sequence of end time Prophetic events in the Bible. The class is led by Greg Carlson and Mike Craig. We are located on the GBC second floor. We are having our next Quarterly Business on Sunday, July 29 th, along with our Quarterly Potluck Lunch. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share for our time of food and fellowship, followed by our Business in the sanctuary. August 1 st marks the beginning of our Deacon Nomination Month. We will have a big green box in the hallway outside the sanctuary, where you will be able to drop in your nomination. If you will be volunteering for this year s VBS and you were unable to make it to last Sunday s meeting, we need you to join us for a mandatory VBS Volunteer Sunday, July 1, after church in the Fellowship Hall. Vacation Bible School is coming Tuesday, July 10 th Friday, July 13 th, from 5:45pm 8:30pm, with our VBS/Community Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 14 th, from 10am 2pm. Please, pray about whether you can serve and talk to Pam Elkins, as soon as possible. Sunday, July 8, is our VBS Set-Up Day and we need YOUR help to turn our church into a Time Travel Laboratory! Stay after church (Lunch will be provided) or come any time you can. We will be working until 6pm. Please, help us decorate and prepare for an amazing week of Vacation Bible School! VBS Volunteers are reminded to park on the side of the building or the back row of the parking lot to provide open spaces for visitors, and to arrive by 5:20pm if possible. We will begin the evening with prayer at 5:25pm in the Fellowship Hall.
