Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 4 Coming Events & Notices THIS WEEK Brass Concert The Madison Performing Arts Foundation warmly invites the public to a free holiday concert featuring the Louisville Brass on Tuesday, December 4th, at 7p at Trinity United Methodist Church. NEXT WEEK Christmas Chili & Pie Cookoff Come begin the Christmas season with great food, fun, and fellowship at our church family cook-off next Sunday, December 2nd! We ll meet at 5p in the basement to sample and vote on the best of our church cooks chili and pies. (See opposite page about signing up to provide a chili and/or pie!) We ll also be making crafts to take to shut-ins when we go caroling. (Please note: this is a family-friendly event, but child care is not provided. We ask that parents and caregivers stay with their children for the event. Thanks!) COMING SOON Christmas Play Mark your calendars! Our Christmas play, Christmas Comes to Lickety-Split by Joy Cleveland, will be held Friday, December 14th, at 7p in the sanctuary. This play, produced with permission from Christian Publishers, will be a lot of fun, while having a very poignant Christian Christmas message. We hope to see you there! REMINDER/NOTICE Derby Dinner Trip If you made reservations to go with our 55+ Friends to Derby Dinner on December 4th, please make sure to pay for your tickets. Tickets are $34. If paying by check make it payable to Connie Dalgleish (not FBC). Also note, the bus will leave our church building at 10:30a that day. Offering Envelopes If you ve never had offering envelopes and want to use them in 2019 you can get them by filling out your communication card with updated contact information and writing Offering Envelopes on the back, or by contacting our office by December 9th. Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed. Guidelines for writing one are available outside our office.

5 Opportunities GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES Angel Trees You can share God s love this Christmas through giving a gift to nursing home residents and to children and youth in our church family who need extra help to celebrate this Christmas. To give, please stop by our displays in the lower auditorium and pick an angel to sponsor. Gifts need to be wrapped (please tape the angel to the package) and returned by Sunday, December 16th. Advent Candle We re looking for families, individuals, Sunday School classes, and small groups to participate in lighting a candle on the Advent wreath as we prepare for Christ s birth each Sunday during Advent (December 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd). To participate, contact Kelly ( ) or write Advent Candle on your communication card. Looking for Chili & Pie Cooks We re looking for people to provide chili and/or pie for our church-wide Advent kick-off coming Sunday, December 2nd. This will be a family-friendly event, including a cookoff contest where everyone can vote on their favorite chili and pies. If you d like to provide chili or pie, please sign up in the lower auditorium, or write chili or pie on your communication card. Pies Needed We re hosting the American Baptist Men s meeting on Monday, December 3rd and we re looking for people who can provide pies for the meeting. If you d like to help, please contact Judy Wright at (812) Staff Love Gift Our church staff works hard to provide us with opportunities to connect with God and with others throughout the year. You can thank them by designating envelopes to Staff Love Gift. Please place gifts in the offering plate or send them to our office by December 16th. Sister Church Scholarships You can be a blessing to the children, youth, and young adults of Shekina Baptist Church in El Salvador by helping students attend primary school, high school, and university! We have helped over 40 students, many who have graduated from the University and are now working to help improve their country. To donate to our Sister Church scholarship fund, designate gifts ES Scholarships. Money due December 23rd. Musicians Needed (All skill levels) If you play a band instrument, you re invited to bring your instrument and come practice and fellowship with other musicians as we learn some Christmas pieces to play at a nursing home.
