4 Coming Events THIS WEEK Louisville Winds Concert The Madison Performing Arts Foundation is pleased to present the Louisville Winds in concert today at 2p at the First Christian Church. The ensemble consists of oboe, bassoon, horn and piano. The event is free and the public is warmly invited to attend. NEXT WEEK Child Dedication We ll be holding a Child Dedication Ceremony during second service next Sunday, October 18th. If you ve requested your child to be included, please submit a photo of your child to our office by Thursday, October 15th. ( digital pictures to india@madisonfbc.org.) You re Invited! Everyone s invited to join in celebrating Helen Smith s 90th birthday at a party in the lower auditorium on October 18th from 2p-4p. Ministry Updates & Church Business Please join us at our church business meeting in the lower auditorium Wednesday, October 21st, at 7:30p for discussions and updates on our church s ministries. COMING SOON Creative Kidz Trunk or Treat On Sunday October 25th, Creative Kidz Club will be going to Trinity United Methodist s Trunk-or-Treat community event. There will be Trunk-or-Treat, hayrides, music, games, food, and a costume contest. To participate, come dressed in costume and meet at First Baptist Church at 5p to walk to Trinity. Parents are encouraged to attend. Trunk or Eggleston This Halloween, we re doing something new: kids can trick-or-treat at Eggleston! To participate, bring your car and park it on the Eggleston playground, decorate yourself and your car trunk if you d like, and pass out candy or trinkets to children who come by. This will be on Saturday, October 31st, from 6p-8p. Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed. Guidelines for writing one are available outside our office.

5 Opportunities & Notices GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Missions Sunday We ll be collecting an offering for missions scholarships and Haiti ministry after worship services today. World Mission Offering During October we re focusing on the American Baptist World Missions. To give to this fund, please use the envelopes in your pew, or designate checks to WMO and place in the offering plate. See your bulletin insert for information about the missions supported by this offering, and stop by our mission display in the Lower Auditorium! Edna Martin Center Pantry Drive During October, we re collecting items for the supply pantry at the Edna Martin Christian Center in Indianapolis. Items needed include canned goods, paper products, and toiletries. Boxes will be available for dropping off donations through October. E-Learning Ministry God has opened the door for churches to help the Madison School system by being host sites to E-Learning days. Four times during the school year, schools will bus around 50 kids to our church so we can help them with homework, feed them a sack lunch, play games with them, and even share with them a lesson about God s love. But we need your help to staff this amazing, God-sized opportunity! E-Learning dates are November 3rd, January 20th, February 10th and April 6th. Time commitments would be during the hours of 8a and 3p. If you re interested in helping on any or all of these days, or want more information, please write E- Learning on your communication card, or contact Kelly at REMINDERS/NOTICES Newsletter Deadline If you re involved in ministry of any kind, you can encourage our church family by sharing a brief activity update, photos, and/or a story for our newsletter. Please remember to bring your offering for the State Project to our meeting this Tuesday, October 13th. SPECIAL NOTE To our church family and friends: words cannot express the thanks for the kindness shown us at the sudden death of Charlie s brother, Joe, for the many cards, prayers, and visits -we appreciated all.
