4 Coming Events THIS WEEK Deadline! 55+ Derby Dinner Trip The 55+ Friends are going to Derby Dinner on Wednesday, February 10th, to see Southern Fried Funeral. Tickets are $33. (They ll travel together in our bus. The bus will leave at 10:30a from our church building.) If you re planning on going with the group, please contact Connie Dalgleish at today. Church Business Meeting Due to weather, last week s business meeting was canceled. We will hold the business meeting in the lower auditorium Wednesday, January 27th, at 7:30p. Please join us for discussions and updates on our church s ministries. Members will vote on our 2016 budget. Women s Study Group Looking to grow spiritually with other women? Our women s Bible study and enrichment activity group has resumed. They are doing a study on prayer based on the movie War Room. The study will be from 6p- 6:45p on Thursdays at Eggleston followed by an (optional) activity from 7p-8:30p. Schedules and detailed information are available outside the church office. If you d like to participate, please contact Cheryl Hooton at , or cdhooton@aol.com. Focus Group If you re interested in hearing and/or sharing ideas and suggestions about how to replace Dennis Bickers, who recently retired as Southeast Area Minister, please join the American Baptist Churches of IN and KY for a Focus Group session in the lower auditorium this Thursday, January 28th, at 7p. Light refreshments will be served. NEXT WEEK Church-Wide Study Groups! Beginning January 31st our church family will take a seven-week journey looking at Max Lucado s You ll Get Through This. We ll hold several small group studies throughout the week to explore each Sunday morning s theme more deeply. Everyone s encouraged to participate in one of these groups. Sign-up sheets are in the Lower Auditorium and include the study s day, time, and location. COMING SOON Valentine s Dinner Looking for a special gift for your loved one? Get a ticket to our Sister Church s Valentine s Dinner! It will be held on Saturday, February 6th, at 6p in the lower auditorium. Entertainment will include a short, silent auction. Cost is a freewill donation, made the night of the dinner, which will go toward our work with Shekina in El Salvador. To reserve a ticket contact Jerry Dougan at Space is limited to 60 people, so don t miss out!
5 Opportunities & Notices GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES Warm Shelter Help Needed During the cold weather, Faith Covenant Church is serving as a warming station for the homeless or those in need. They open their doors at 5p each night until 7a the next morning. They also provide a meal during the evening. They are looking for volunteers to help staff the warming station as well as donations of money and food. If you would like to help, please contact our office at or write shelter on your communication card. Homework Helpers Lydia Middleton teachers and students are already asking when we can start helping with homework again. The answer: As soon as we have volunteers! If you re interested in helping, please contact Nancy Totten ( ) or write Homework Helpers on your communication card and place it in the offering plate. House of Hope We re collecting items for the House of Hope food pantry on an ongoing basis. Needs include boxes or bags of cereal and baking mixes, condiments, and other non-perishable food and hygiene items. Please avoid donating economy sizes. To donate, drop off items in the lower auditorium. We will also collect an offering for this ministry on January 31st. Baby Bottles You can help Life Choices reach our community and save the lives of the unborn by filling baby bottles with coins, bills, and checks. Please pick up a bottle at the sanctuary exits, fill it up, and return it to our church office by Sunday, February 21st. (Visit madisonchoices.com for more information about Life Choices.) REMINDERS/NOTICES 2015 Giving Statements Your 2015 Giving Statements are ready. Please help us save postage and pick yours up in the lower auditorium today. SPECIAL NOTES Thank you to everyone who donated filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Their coordinator called to let us know our support makes a big difference and is much appreciated.
