4 Coming Events & Special Notes THIS WEEK Undercover Church Want a glimpse of what it s like for persecuted Christians who are forced to meet for worship and Bible studies in secret? Join us at our Undercover Church service this Friday, November 14th, at 12:30a (technically Saturday morning) at Eggleston. Please bring your Bible and a flashlight and enter the south alley entrance where you will be guided to our worship place. NEXT WEEK Thanksgiving Dinner Bring family and friends and a favorite side dish or two and join us in the church basement on Sunday, November 16th, at 5p for our church-wide Thanksgiving dinner celebration. Meat, dressing, gravy, rolls, and drinks will be provided. Please bring your own table service. COMING SOON 55+ Friends Trip Our 55+ Friends are going to Derby Dinner Playhouse on Wednesday, December 10th, to see It's a Wonderful Life. They ll leave from our church building on our bus at 10:30a that day. Tickets are limited, so if you want to go, please contact Helen Smith ( ) or Connie Dalgleish by November 16th. (Ticket cost depends on how large the group is, so we ll post cost after we ve received a response.) 5 Opportunities Operation Christmas Child You can bless a child this Christmas with a simple, gift-filled shoebox! For details about Operation Christmas Child and how to pack your shoebox, please pick up a brochure in the Lower Auditorium or visit samaritanspurse.org. Filled boxes need to be dropped off in the Lower Auditorium or Kidz Worship Room by Sunday, November 16th. House of Hope We re collecting items for the House of Hope this month. Please avoid donating economy sizes. Items needed include condiments, baking supplies, and other non-perishables. To donate, please drop off items in the Lower Auditorium or at the 3rd street doors. MJCF Wish List We re collecting items for the Juvenile Correctional Facility. A complete holiday wish list is in the Lower Auditorium. Items mostneeded are deodorant, 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, conditioner (no alcohol), and body lotion (lanolin alcohol ok). To donate, please drop off items in the Lower Auditorium. Advent Candle Lighting We re looking for families willing to participate in lighting a candle on the Advent wreath as we prepare for Christ s birth each Sunday during the Advent season (November 30th, December 7th, 14th, and 21st). This is a fun opportunity to get your whole family involved! Different members of the family can read a scripture, light the candle, tell a story and pray. To get your family involved, contact Kelly Rector or write Advent Candle on a communication card and place it in the offering plate. Group Activities Interested in making a short-term commitment that would make a long-term difference? The Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility needs people to lead Christmas parties, fun activities, game nights, and/or educational groups. If you d like to lead a group or a game night, please write MJCF Group Leader on your communication card, or contact Galen Bremmer at GBremmer@idoc.IN.gov. Newsletter Deadline If you re excited about a ministry you re involved with here at First Baptist, please let the rest of our church family know what s happening by sharing a brief activity update, photos, and/or articles for our newsletter. Guidelines are available outside our church office. (Submissions for December s Newsletter due Monday, November 17th.)
