4 Coming Events & Special Notes THIS WEEK Office Closed Our office will be closed on Monday, September 4th. The Inheritance Women s Study All you women wanting to charge your batteries in God s Word and fellowship with other sisters - we have a new Beth Moore study for you. It will be held Thursdays at 6:30p from September 7th through November 2nd. We ll meet in the Young Adults classroom (first room on the left after getting off the elevator at the second floor). This study doesn t require homework, but it does require your willingness to come ready to listen, and engage as we watch and discuss a 60 minute video. To participate, sign up in the lower auditorium to reserve your listening guide. Questions? Contact Nita Scarff at Women s Study & Activity Group Looking to grow spiritually with other women? On September 7th our women s study and enrichment activity group will resume every Thursday on the 2nd floor at Eggleston (enter at the 3rd St doors). The study begins at 6p, followed by a craft activity at 7p for anyone who would like to participate. We re reading and discussing Phyllis Shirer s Armor of God. If you need a book, or have any questions, please contact Cheryl Hooton at or cdhooton@aol.com. COMING SOON Euchre Night Come see and support Second Stories and have a fun time at a Euchre Night fundraiser on Friday, September 22nd, from 6p to 9p at Eggleston (corner of East and 3rd). Cost is $10 for admission to play. There will also be light snacks and drinks to purchase at the event. To make a reservation, sign up in the lower auditorium. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Lynch, KY Mission Trip We re planning a mission trip to Lynch, KY to help serve under-resourced elderly people in that community. We ll be there October 15th-20th. If you re interested in participating, please contact Randy at or write Lynch Trip on your communication card. SPECIAL NOTES You re invited to a bridal brunch for Emily Scott on Saturday, September 23rd from 11a-1p in the lower auditorium. 5 Opportunities & Notices GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES TODAY! Community Needs You can help people who need financial assistance for necessities such as housing and electricity by donating to our Benevolence Fund. Deacons will be at the church exits after today s services to collect donations for this ministry. Hurricane Help You can provide financial assistance for those affected by Hurricane Harvey by donating to One Great Hour of Sharing, an American Baptist missions relief fund. Please place gifts in an envelope and designate envelopes OGHS Hurricane Harvey. Jefferson House We re collecting items for the Jefferson House, a local inhouse rehab program for men with alcohol and drug addictions. They especially need paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. Items can be dropped off in the lower auditorium. (Please label donations Jefferson House so we know what ministry you are donating to.) Helping Kids in Need We re partnering with Lydia Middleton to help provide items on an ongoing basis to kids in need. We re collecting body wash, shampoo, new underwear (kids sizes), pants (3T to 14/16), and shoes for children in preschool - 5th grade. Items can be dropped off in the lower auditorium. (Please label donations Lydia Middleton so we know what ministry you are donating to.) NOTICES/REMINDERS Newsletter September s newsletter is here! You can read it at madisonfbc.org or get a print copy in the lower auditorium. FREE Books! Our librarians culled some books from our church library. You can stop by our library today and browse the box of books to see if there s something you d like to take home with you. Derby Dinner Trip If you ve contacted Connie and plan to attend the 55+ Friends trip to Derby Dinner s matinee showing of Southern Fried Nuptials in September, please note that tickets cost $34 each. Checks should be made out to Connie Dalgleish (NOT to First Baptist) and submitted to her by September 13th. Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed.
