This campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world in developing countries, through the internet, television, radio and print media. Fifty percent of funds collected remains in our diocese to fund local communications efforts. Your support helps spread the gospel message! NH CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL Moving Lives Forward Catholic Charities New Hampshire provides programs that strengthen families, communities and builds independence by moving lives forward. We heal, comfort and empower people from all backgrounds through all stages of life. To name a few Counseling services, Immigration & Refugee Services, NH Food Bank, Our Place, a mentoring parent program, St. Charles Children s Home, a one-on-one behavioral educations service program, etc. There will be envelopes in the pews for you to use. 3 Early Invitation to New Youth Choir Members All St Joseph parishioners who are in grades K thru 12 and are interested in joining the Youth Choir for our 2017/2018 singing year (which begins on Sunday, September 10) are invited to sing our closing song with us at the 10 am mass on Sunday, June 4 th, our last singing day for this singing year. Our closing song will be Greater (#409 in the white music book). Those interested should practice the song at home using the following YouTube internet video: If you don t have internet access, a practice CD of the song will be provided. We will practice the song together on June 4 th at 9am in the Triple Classroom. Registration for Youth Choir will continue throughout the summer and fall; this is just an additional opportunity to meet the current Youth Choir members, sign up for practice CDs, and get into the swing of things before the summer break. Parish & Community News Ascension Mass Schedule Wednesday, May 24 th - 5:30pm (Vigil) Thursday, May 25 th - 8:00am Please note: There will not be a 7:00pm Mass on May 25 th. The parish office will be closed on Thursday, May 25 th in observance of the Holy Day. MEMORIAL DAY FLOWERS St. Patrick & Holy Cross Cemeteries Flowers for St. Patrick and Holy Cross Cemeteries may be placed on graves on Thursday, May 25 th and must be removed by Sunday, June 4 th. Please note: The staff will not remove any flowers before June 4 th. MEMORIAL DAY MASS Mass will be celebrated this Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 th at St. Stanislaus Cemetery on Pine Hill Avenue in Nashua at 10:00am. In the event of rain, the Mass will take place inside the chapel at the same location. Please remember to bring a chair! We hope to see you there. Blood Drive Update A sincere thank you to the 53 people who stopped by to donate at our last blood drive on April 21 st. Your blood donation matters! There is a serious need for all blood types. Registration forms have been sent out. If you did not receive yours, please contact Miss Janice. Completed forms are due by May 31 st. We ask parents to mark this week in their calendars and reserve this week for the Faith Formation Session. What so ever you do For the past several months, members of the parish have joined the Middle School Faith Forma on in helping the youth in Nashua that have aged out of the foster care system. Month of May We Honor Our Lady as Queen of the Most Holy Rosary May is a special time to rediscover this powerful meditative prayer, the Holy Rosary. Our Lady requests that we pray the Rosary daily. Gather your family together and join us in the Eucharistic Chapel immediately after the 4pm and the 10am Masses, and at 7:30am before the 8am Mass during the month of May. All are welcome, come and pray with us. Rosary leaders have been assigned for each of the Masses. The Liturgy Committee

5 REFLECTIONS By Bishop Christian Jesus is in the Father, the disciples are in him, and he is in them. Sounds like a puzzle. We put it together by keeping his commandments. To keep is to act. We often say, Actions speak louder than words. When we live the commandments, our actions make that known. The same Spirit that connects Jesus with the Father is the promised Advocate who connects God with us and us with one another. That same Spirit was given to those in Samaria when the apostles laid hands on them. That same Spirit helped Peter s audience keep their consciences clear because of their good conduct in Christ. That same Spirit helps our actions speak louder than words. We were baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Spirit was deepened within us in confirmation. How do people know that the Spirit is within us? We manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. When our actions make clear that the Spirit of God guides us, people see that we remain in Jesus Christ and he remains in us. St. Francis de Sales taught that human beings love by doing good. The wisdom, counsel, understanding, and knowledge of the Holy Spirit give us courage to do good and live Jesus command to love. Withdraw into your heart this week. Turn to our Advocate, the Holy Spirit. Reflect on the gifts of the Spirit and ask for the courage to act on them. Then love as Jesus loved.
