With children out of school for the summer, it puts an extra strain on low income families. Needed items are: pancake mix and syrup, crackers, cake and brownie mixes, jello and pudding mixes, canned pasta, boxes of instant potatoes, flour, sugar, canned goods, and meals like macaroni & cheese. Dish and laundry soap, toilet paper, and toothpaste. Please place your donations in the mission container in the Narthex. Thank you for your support! It really does make a difference. 3 It has pleased Almighty God to call to Himself in heaven the soul of SANDRA KUEHNAST GREGG, who died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Humboldt Care Center South. The Funeral Service was held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Zion. May our gracious Lord comfort and sustain Sandy s family with the living hope that is found in Jesus Christ and in anticipation of the great reunion to come. TRAVIS GOULD and TANYA PETERSON were united in marriage during a service yesterday, June 17, May our gracious Lord bless T.J. and Tanya with a long life together filled with His richest blessings and much happiness. Many thanks for all the hugs and condolences given me. As well as the sympathy cards and memorials given in memory of Bob. God bless you. Leone Rowe 2017 VBS MISSION PROJECT: HEIFER INTERNATIONAL is a mission group that provides heifers, goats, pigs, chickens and other animals that individuals raise and use to provide for their family. A heifer means the family would have milk every day and the dignity that comes with feeding yourself. We collected quarters in a tube this week for this mission. We will be able to purchase 3 flocks of chickens for $20 each and 2 goats for $120 each. We will be taking a free will offering this weekend for this worthy project. Thank you for supporting this mission. The LWML will be hosting a Pantry Shower for the McBee family this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. We would encourage our members to help welcome the McBee Family to Zion Lutheran. Items can be brought to church anytime on the 18 th. Tables will be set up in the fellowship hall. Just a thought, if gift cards are purchased from Hy-Vee, Fareway or Casey s for the McBee s, you can do so through Zion s Jr. LYC Scrip Program. This will also benefit the Jr. LYC. Thank you in advance to all who participate in this Pantry Shower. The Evangelism Board is coordinating the Sunday Morning Fellowship COFFEES to follow the worship services during the summer. Any group of individuals, families or Zion organizations are encouraged to sponsor a Sunday Morning Fellowship Coffee. A free will offering will be received to cover expenses with the remaining proceeds going toward a cause of their choice. Please sign up on the east bulletin board in the Narthex. Thank you. JR. LYC Scrip Program: Orders are taken for Scrip Cards the 1 st and 3 rd Sunday of the month. By buying groceries, gas or giving them as gifts you support the Jr. LYC. The following cards allow Jr. LYC to make a reasonable profit: 1- Fareway 3 percent back 2- Hy-Vee 5 percent back 3- Casey s 3 percent back KHBT LUTHERAN HOUR BROADCAST: The cost of broadcasting the Lutheran Hour on KHBT increased from $20 to $ The cost for the broadcast has not changed for many years. Recognizing that this is a significant increase the Evangelism Board will contribute $5 per radio broadcast with an additional $1.50 being provided from a second source. This brings to cost of sponsoring a broadcast to $25. We thank those who continue to support this wonderful ministry as we continue not only to bring Christ to the nations but Christ to Humboldt. The proceeds will be used for scholarships and other Rotary projects. Tickets are available from Rotary members. Please join us and help our scholarship program.

The Humboldt Farmers Market will be starting on Saturday, June 24 from 8:30 a.m.-noon. It is located on the north side of Main Street under the canopies. The Market accepts Senior Vouchers and Wic Vouchers. Come and enjoy your local Market. New vendors of all ages and talents are welcome. Quilt Auction & Craft Sale, Saturday, June 24, 12:30: One of the best selections of quilts! Over 150 have been received so far. Viewing opens Friday 5-7 and Saturday morning. Relay for Life on Friday, June 30: Dedicate a Luminaria and light the way around the Relay for Life track in tribute for loved ones whose life has been touched by cancer. Relay for Life will be on main street in Humboldt this year instead of the High School track. The Humboldt County Ministerial Association would like to invite your Church, organization, Youth Group, or individuals, to volunteer to help with the Mobile Food Pantry. The Mobile Food Pantry will be July 12 from 4:30-6:30 at the Humboldt Fairgrounds. As of now, the Mobile Food Pantry will be the second Wednesday of every other month. The Mobile Food Pantry is sponsored by the Food Bank of Iowa out of Des Moines. The Ministerial Association of Humboldt County, UDMO and the Humboldt Food Pantry are all volunteers working together to feed the hungry. We need volunteers to help distribute the food, restock food on the tables, cut down boxes, clean up trash, and assist clients with getting food to their vehicles. We also need kids age 12 and up to assist the elderly and disabled with getting the food put into the grocery carts and pushed out to and loaded in their vehicles. They get a lot of food and it is heavy to just carry. Please call Mary or Becky at Upper Des Moines Opportunity at Monday-Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to volunteer or after hours leave a message with your name and phone number on the answering machine.
